    Hello TW

    Newbie Question.

I am looking to put a 3" lift on my 2007 DC Sport. I am looking at either the OME kit or the ultimate kit from Toytec. My question is, why is the coil on the toytec kit so expensive compared to running 5100 with Eibach or OME 885 springs?
I understand that the toytec coilovers are a complete one piece deal and is adjustable but would the strut not still be adjustable with OME or Eibach springs?

Is the extra cost worth it?

    Thanks

With the Toytec coilover, you can adjust the ride height while its installed on the truck. The base plate for the spring is threaded, so with a spanner wrench you can raise or lower the ride height at any time within minutes. BTW, I believe Toytec uses Eibach springs and Bilstein 5100s on their coilovers, the only thing they add is the threaded adjustable base plate.

With the standard 5100 shocks you have to take the shock off the truck, use a spring comressor to remove the spring and adjust the base plate. Then reassemble it all.

With the OME shocks you cannot adjust the height. You buy the height you want and install it, you cannot adjust it (other than adding or removing spacers).

If you know how much lift you want and you are confident in your decision then get the OME or 5100s and set them & forget them. If you want the adjust-ability then get adjustable coilovers.

you know that you will have to invest in UCAs with a 3" lift right ? Where if you keep it at 2.5" you may not need a UCA that bad ... pros correct me if im wrong !

True. My truck started wandering on the freeway with bilstein @ 1.75 and no UCAs. I scrapped that suspension and went with icon coilover and Total Chaos UCAs and have never had a wandering/pulling issue since.
