Thanks for the compliment on the Jeep. It does well but is capped on towing at 2000# and LOVES gas. Imagine driving a brick in the wind. Oh yeah, also a robust three speed auto. Bullet proof but on the highway you keep wishing for another gear or two once past 50 mph.
This is where the Taco fits our needs, tows well, sips fuel compared to Jeep and can tow our 3500# trailer pretty easily as well as haul dirtbikes when called upon.

Yeah the lower mounts and uppers are usually the thing that I see busted on used coilovers on CL - I don't know how much of a difference the strength between the Kings and the Toytecs are though.

Unfortunately not much info on BOSS system and what I did find where the broken lower mounts that got me concerned. People for the most part vent the bad, but when things go well forget to post the good and just go on with life.

I see so it's an a-b rig. I cruise CL for a 4.0 5spd 4x4 once in awhile. I'd rather have a pickup for camping though.

Thanks. As luck would have it I decided I needed a 4x4 shortly after installing the kit. I spent all the money I had saved up for the rear suspension on that truck on a 98. $5k lesson, but I'll sell the kit and put the money towards the first gen. I wish my truck had rear suspension that matches the front though. Hitting dips in the street is fun with the front, but the rear is a reality check.

The rear of my truck actually does quite well. I couldn't believe how good it rode when we bought it.
As for 4x4 that is one area I got the wife to agree on, no trucks unless its 4x. She didn't get it at first, growing up here in the city, but a few trips to the snow, pismo, glamis and back home to colorado for me convinced her. Now if I show interest in a 2wd truck she says no, it has to be 4x. lol

Excitement was short lived and adventure continues, toytec sold them Friday and does not have anymore at the moment.
May just go rancho quicklifts as I know we have them in my store. I know it is not ideal but it gets my truck on the road relatively quick with no hassle. I am too frustrated to think straight at the moment.

Been there brother. Take a breath and call around. There's may be another vendor that has them like wheelersoffroad, SDHQ, downsouth motorsports, or one of the big box stores like 4wheel parts (even if they represent the man) or eBay sellers. Stock length replacement kings may sometimes be stocked rather than have people wait for build time like custom orders.

Have you hit up Marie over at @HeadStrong Off-Road yet? They offer King c/o's on their site for 1st gens and free shipping to the lower 48. Not sure if they're in stock but worth looking into

Yeah I did. She was my second call. Worst part about it is my card was charged so now funds are tied up a few business days waiting for credit. I almost went boss just to avoid delay but can't see how they are roughly the same price as kings? The wait continues....

The BOSS c/o's are about $800 and the kings are about a grand I thought? I guess they are sort of close, the BOSS setup with resi's comes out to be the same I think

Just out of curiosity @Xjman1, where would you have gone to get your SAW's rebuilt if you had gone that route? I have an old set of SAWs that need a rebuild but I'm having a hard time finding a place that knows their rebuild kit. I'm debating going that route or doing the ToyTec BOSS kit myself.

I was initially looking to have accutune off-road rebuild them but talked to @TMFF here from 303 suspension and decided to have him do them.
Unfortunately my shafts are jacked up from previous owner and also discontinued. What saw's are yours? I may be interested if you go boss route.

I was looking at the reservoir version. If I recall the boss set up is not serviceable and also a 2.0 vs 2.5. I also prefer the shock mounts of the kings being one piece billet with no welds to worry about.

Mine are the 2.0 SAWs. They're in bad shape and need a rebuild, plus new lower heims. The holes to adjust the preload are pretty jacked up too. I picked them up for only a couple hundred bucks but I'm thinking I might just drop the coin on a new kit like the toytec one and not risk dealing with the headache of trying to rebuild the SAWs.

Stay away from box - they ride like cardboard. Fox will give you extended travel from what I read.

I just got the Boss kit with reservoirs, hoping to install this weekend. They told me the coilovers I got are rebuildable, but the regular Boss coilovers are not. Either way I believe Toytec will take care of us.
