Toytec Coilovers Vs. Icon

    First, yes I searched and didn't come up with a thread answering a specific question I have. I am currently running 5100s at 2.5" (stock coils), billies and wheelers 3 leaf aal in rear. 265/70/17 at3's. Wanting to leave the rear and upgrade the front to get rid of the rake and I plan to buy coilovers. Should I just buy the toytec coilover kit for my 5100's, or get standard travel icons for 3"? And yes im getting uca's (light racing). What are the pros and cons of each? I lightly wheel once or twice a year but dd other than that. wanting to upgrade to 285s. if I overlooked something, please link me to the right thread. Thanks guys!

    Spend a little more and get Icons, much better product. Get the extended travel, they will work fine with the LR UCA.

    Yea I noticed they were the same price. I guess I'm just wondering how dependable the toytecs are. I have seen where people say they are very stiff at first

    pretty sure you gotta strap the extended travel ones if using a stock length LCA.

    Oh I missed that. You can run extended travel coilovers with stock LCA, no straps needed.

    What travel difference is there? I don't flex much and I'm really after clearance for 285 and a better ride more than anything

    I think its an inch at the wheels. The extended travel is same price as regular, theres no reason not to get them.

    I have them at 2" and have 265/75/16, but will be getting 255/85/16 (33x10) soon.

    Like said above....no need for straps with extended travel icons. I have them and love them. They're great both on the road and off the road.

    So with icon extended travel co, uca's, I can get 3" and correct my driver lean without a spacer, and run 285's?

    Yes, but 285s will still rub in certain positions unless you do a cab mount chop.

    Yes, I'm running them at 3" with 35s. With 285s your going to have to do a cab mount chop so you don't rub.
