I just put on Toytec's flip kit and Darkars and I am really disappointed with the flip kit.. The plate is 1/4 inch too wide and the ubolts are smaller than stock. I am getting a loud bang when going over speed bumps at an angle. I have to assume it is because of the ubolt kit. Has anyone else had this issue?

I think the u bolts are too small the holes in the plates are .5 inch and the bolts are . 35

What's the small plate between the leaf pack and axle?

Your axle appears to be off center.

It is a shim. It twisted slightly on the pin which is why it appears to be offcenter.

U bolts are usually 9/16" , or 5/8ths for extra heavy duty. I agree the 3/8ths u bolts they sent you may be incorrect.

Could be the untrimmed u bolts contacting the bumpstop frame pad

Definitely the wrong ubolts. The measurement between the inside of the holes on the plate is the exact same as the leaf pack width. The ubolts are so damn small they are just pushing to the outside of the hole and I get a big gap.

This is my factory u bolts, look to be 9/16ths , would be surprised if they stepped down a size. 20161119_193100.jpg

My calipers were not zeroed in the one picture. The holes in the plate are 5/8 inch and the bolts are 1/2 inch. I am being told by Wheeler's ,which is where I bought them, that there is supposed to be extra space in the hole for play and variation of spring packs. I think ToyTec is trying to save a buck. I now realize why all the other kits have 5/8 specified and theirs just has the length shown.

Do you see any spots where you think the noise is coming from or where it may be coming into contact with something? If you are able to bring the truck down to Toytec maybe we can take a look at it.

I've always wondered what the benefits are to flipping the u-bolts.

No trouble with mine? Don't recall what size the bolts were but 1/2" seems about right.
Ground clearance, gets the Nuts on top of the axle where the are less prone to damage by rocks etc.

I re-torqued all of the u-bolts and it was still making the noise when I would turn hard while hitting a small bump or speed bumps at a hard angle. I loosened all of the bolts and clamped them tight against the spring and retightened and now there is no more noise.

Do you have plates that have 1/2" holes or 5/8" ubolts?
