Yes you can adjust them without compressing the spring but it isnt easy and you risk breaking the tool and or wollow out the hole... even per the instructions it says do not adjust unless you compress the spring beforehand.

I am thinking of these after I sell my Kings, but I do like the fact that you can adjust the Kings while they are still on the vehicle. I would imagine to adjust these after you take them out would a new alignment be needed?

There worth it still just adjust them how you want it the first time then not really any need to adjust after that..

I have the height adjustable on my truck - the red on the left, and I am ready to move on to something with ride adjustability. 30K miles now and they still are harsh over seams in the pavement but off pavement they are pretty good at absorbing the terrain at speed.

I will say the finish has really held up well to winter salt and off pavement dirt. They wipe clean and have no pitting or rust.

I had the 2.5 aluminum boss long travel. Not so long travel found they bottomed and topped out quite easy

After just talking to Anthony at Toytec he said all you need to do is take the tire off and keep the tension off the LCA and they can be adjusted on the vehicle. Although it does not state this anywhere on their site or adjusting directions. That’s what he said in my email I just received from him

I saw this thread earlier today and it took me a while to find it again. I will add my experience with Toytech.

I have had the 2.5 boss coilovers with 650Lb coils on my 4Runner for about 5 years. The ride is slightly harsher than stock but it's not like driving a lowered Civic.

They are amazing off roading and pretty good on the street. I do have KDDS so that helps out as well. I would buy them again since I have had zero problems with them.

The 4Runner is a little heavier and I do have steel skid plates, sliders and a hidden winch bumper with a winch.

After I added the extra weight I was able to adjust them with the spanner wrench and lube. I added a cheater bar to get it started but it wasn't that hard. I did jack it up and kept the wheels on to remove as much preload as possible without compressing the coils. You can see in the after picture below it didn't even mess up the alloy.

spending money on upgrading shocks is supposed to make ride noticeably more comfortable, not harsher
I am guessing those make it harsher by using CNC aluminum and threaded shaft (just like cheap spacers/blocks) to achieve spacing/lift instead of relying on a taller more spaced out spring like most other lifts do
quick way to get 3" instead of buying spacers separately, it combines them
