What are you running in the rear on your Runner? And what size tires? I also have an "04 SR5 Runner currently with 5100's and moog springs. I rides really nice right now but I would like to eventually put 32's on it and lift the front end up a bit more. I'm considering these as a way of doing that....

Thanks for the heads up @ DukesTaco. You're correct I just shipped some seat covers and went to USPS first they quoted $47.00 and then I went to FedEx, they quoted $57.00. Nice set up!

I have shipped a lot of stuff over the years bicycles a arms drive lines and always use USPS. The trick is to make tha box as small a possible. Length +width+weight=price. In that scenario you can only control the length and width. Hope this helps if not on this shipment then maybe the next.

Was running OME 895E coils with the matching OME Nitrocharger shocks in the rear, which gave about 2.0" of lift. Tires were 265/70-17 BFG KOs. With that setup, you could easily get 32s or 33s in the rear. Great ride, too. Awesome for towing.

The ToyTec setup in the front was cranked up to the max for about 3" lift and I had some rubbing in reverse only at or near full lock. The rubbing was only on the fender liners, though, so I think it would have been easy to fix, but I never really bothered to try. Also, I was running Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers (still am, actually) with the stock SR5 wheels, as well as stock UCAs, so I'm pretty sure all of those things were contributing to the rubbing. My guess is that I would have had no rub if I had removed the spacers and went with different wheels or just replaced the UCAs with aftermarket. I would think you could get 32s on with no problem if you did a 3" lift up front and went with aftermarket UCAs. Also, that much lift with stock UCAs was out of spec on the caster, so it did want to wander a bit going down the road, but I lived with it for a good 7+ years with no issues and the ride the ToyTecs provided was excellent. After I got my new Tacoma, I decided to mellow out the lift on the 4Runner, as it was going to be my daily driver and no longer really need it to be lifted, since the Taco was going to be my off-road vehicle. So, I put the original coils back in the rear and adjusted the front coilovers lower to give me about .75" rake. This took care of the wandering without going all the way back to stock ride height in the front, giving it a more leveled look instead. To round it all out, I moved the KOs from the 4Runner to the new Tacoma (after picking up some 17" TRD Pro wheels) and put the Tacoma's brand new OEM tires & wheels on the 4Runner. They actually look pretty good on it, though I will get a more aggressive tire when the Goodyears eventually wear out. I'm really pleased with the way this config looks and drives. 246K miles and still going strong.

Here's how the 4Runner sits today (No lift in rear, ToyTec coilovers adjusted to about 1" or so over stock ride height for a slight nose down rake of ~.75", 265/70-16 tires):
My driveway slopes quite a bit so the front appears to sit higher than it actually does due to the rear of the truck leaning somewhat downhill.

Thanks for the info. That's a great help seeing the two compared. I've debated getting a CO setup vs bumping up the 5100s to the 1.75 notch. I'm currently running that same size tire on TRD trail team wheels. Those newer Tacoma wheels look great on your setup btw. I'll have to think about these for sure.

Whats your point AZM? HMMMMM? I said they were bought from a forum member. I don't appreciate your insinuation.
Did you happen to read the whole ad? As in "local pickup in Kyle $560.00". HHMMMMMMMM? You're a real super sleuth AZM, Scotland yard could use a genius like you. Have you ever shipped a 40lb. part? HMMMMMM? It's quite expensive, as in it costs money. I realize you want your parts for free but I see nothing wrong with me trying to recoup my money seeing as they were bought a couple weeks ago and never used. HMMMMMM? BTW the $30.00 dollars extra won't even cover half of the shipping cost- the rest of the money comes from my pocket. HHMMMMMMMM!

Now run along and try to solve some other mysteries Sherlock.

Thanks Lurkin, you're right, I shouldn't have wasted my time. People want them but they want them for the price of a couple struts.

Its funny, I asked another member selling a grill for his price and it was more that I can go buy it new for. Hey, that's his price and he has the right, no one twisting my arm.

These coilovers go for about $800.00 plus shipping, I ask for $590.00 shipped and I get this BS!! REALLY??

    Gosh darn it!
You guys are really going to make me do this, huh?

I'm thinking it's a good option for me for these reason.

    A. I'm broke after buying truck and it's all I can really afford (more than actually) but I have this obligatory need to mod something on it.
    B. I can get a good deal (practically free) air bags for the rear suspension and I already have the TSB springs.
    C. Everything at this point is pretty adjustable and looks good until I can afford something like Dakars for the back.
    D. Refer to A.

Anyone please chime in with comments, I am very new to the suspension game, but am the kind of person that wants to understand all my options before actually making a decision. I am hoping to do all mods myself in order to gain knowledge and save money.

Question though. If I do an AAL of dakars later, will the air bags still work? will I need any special brackets or anything?

Does this sound like an overall smart route to go? I'm more of a function/value guy than an aesthetics/showy guy.

I will be doing a lot of adventuring/camping and plan on a RTT with bed rack and possibly custom bumpers/winch someday.

    Another question:
I do enjoy the TRD sport suspension as it is. And I don't want to mess up a good thing. It is very comfortable driving. Will this be as comfortable or a stiffer/bumpier ride?

Someone give me a reason not to buy this please.

So 3Pointslow, I think based on your listed criteria, these would fit the bill quite well. They are an excellent "mid" level lift, with the adjustability to conform to any changes you may do in the rear.
Don't listen to me, this is why I placed the link to the Ultimate coilover reviews. I encourage you to read them as well as the members above who have given their personal experiences. You can probably buy better but at a higher cost of course. Also, what are your intentions with the truck? Are you going rock crawling.......or Mall crawling? If the latter is more like it, than these are even overkill. IMO, at the price, you will be getting a coilover with adjustability and a an excellent ride. Remember, these use the Billstein 5100 strut at their core, you don't have to look very far to find a huge number of 5100 users who LOVE the ride they provide.
At the end of the day, its up to you. I can tell you that whomever buys these will be very happy!

Tacomal4x4- Nice! Good for you. No shipping, tax and discount, wow! That's some discount.

I have purchased many parts from Toytec , flip kit, full OME suspension, Toplate spacers, etc. Never got them to waive any of the shipping and taxes. I believe Tacoma World gets a 5% discount when available. Off $800.00, that's $40.00.

Well, I live in Lake Tahoe. I plan to do a lot of local exploring mostly, but do plan to use it for long road trips as well.
I literally hate malls and most cities. The roads are shit up here; winters are rough. I plan to go camping, and would love to be able to have some extra off road capability/clearance as well as add a little character. I will definitely be loading it up and driving on washed out roads at a minimum. I do not plan to do crazy off roading / rock crawling. Keyword crazy. I do want to be able to do SOME cool stuff and go see cool remote places. I've already taken it places most people wouldn't take a truck this new. And at the end of the day I've never owned something so expensive and nice in my life, so I need to be smart. I will NEVER be running kings or fox shocks, etc... it's just not in my means and probably won't be for a long time. I try to be a reasonable person but I know toyotas and what they can do and I do plan to use it to it's full capability. It's going to by my swiss army truck. a lot of kayaking, camping, hunting trips, etc. The only kit I was considering before was the OME because it's pretty affordable. But then I decided not to do anything until I saw this and got the offer for the air bags.
