I have a question about the TPMS for my 2008 Tacoma. I currently have the upgraded stock 16" wheels and tires that soon need to be replaced. A buddy of mine has a brand new set of upgraded stock 17" wheels and tires that he is willing to let me have for a steal. My question is, Will I have to take my TPMS out of my 16" wheels and place in the new 17" wheels when I change them out so my truck computer will reconize them? Will they even fit or are the not the same? Thanks for any help!

They fit if you turn them 180 degrees, but you have to remove the stems (drop them into the tire that is) anytime you remove the tire to prevent breaking them.

If you have 16" TRD Off Road or Baja wheels, the TPMS will swap straight over to the 17" TRD Sport wheels. You'll just need to get a TPMS rebuild kit which is basically just a new rubber gasket for the stems. If you reuse your TMPS, no issues with your truck's computer.

If you use your buddy's TPMS, then you'll have to have your truck reprogrammed to the new sensors and I believe you need a number off the TPMS to do so.

If you have 16" steel wheels, the TPMS will not swap over to the 17" TRD Sport wheels, you'll have to use wheel straps to make them work.

I have the same wheels as the picture above from Friction's post. Going to 17" Sport Wheels.
