TPMS Issue

Started my taco today (4,800 miles) an it had the tire pressure light on. TPMS shows all tires at same psi but only 3 of them are lit up orange. After driving while, the back two both changed to 27 psi but that back left still stayed lit up. I believe cold psi target is 29. Just wondering why not all lights would be on if tires are same psi and if the tires should be so low after only driving less than 5k miles. Thanks.

Also is the 5k mile toyota care appointment worth the time? I believe there is now also a maintenance light that came on as a reminder.

Also does the fuel range have a max? After every fill up it usually shows 356 miles remaining and has never gone above that. For some reason today it shows 377 miles remaining. Just thought that was weird.

 

Yes the 5k appointment is worth it. Theyll rotate your tires and fix that bad tpms sensor if its broke.

 

The threshold isn't a fixed value. Each tire has it's own. You can see it in Techstream. Not sure if it's based on a percentage when the learn procedure is started or not.

 

Also I got an email saying time for your 6 month or 5k mile service. I've had the truck 3 months. How tf do they know I have 5k miles on it???

 

Like it or not your truck transmits information.

 

Its set in the maintenance settings
I added my own for grease points aswell

Go to the apps section
You can set the intervals for maintenance
Like oil change, filters and spots to add your own.

 

yes. so is that information sent to toyota? i programmed the 5k for oil change which is triggering the light.

 

No it comes from your odometer
You set the interval amd it will warn you that it needs to be done before you reaxh that interval.
You can reset it on your own.

I got the same call at exactly 6 months, but my truck only had 2,200 miles at 6 months.

I think some Toyota's have the stream, but not Tacomas.

stock on a limited. door jam says cold tire psi target is 29.

 

Tacoma transmitting information... not sure about that! Mileage based upon average that owners travel which is 12-15k a year. I say not worth taking a chance taking to dealer to have tires rotated and having your wheels scratched and lug nuts over tightened..

 

If you look in the owners manual there is a section in there about the truck recording events and transmission of data, I think it says no recording of people speaking in the cab though.

Honestly maybe it's just me but isn't that to low? I would inflate to 30 maybe 32 to be safe then hold that tpms reset button under the driver kick panel and drive it until you numbers show up again.
