Well someone needs to have the tool. It might as well be you. My purchase will be paid for in two years, and then will keep paying me back as I use it to swap between sets.

It's only $150. A very small price for convenience IMO

I just want to use the new wheel/tires for now. I don't have plans of changing them out very often. So, $150 for a single use is a little steep for me.

You could take the sensors out of your stock rims and put them in the new rims and tires. Do you have a Hi lift or farm jack? You can break the bead with the jack and swap the sensors. That's how I put my sensors in my aftermarket rims. Super easy! I'll find a link to the how to

    Hi Foihdzas,
I really appreciate the review and rating of the Quickset tool. I think I could actually figure how to use the tool. Good idea getting used TPMS from a Toyota dealer. I'm glad the glitch was in the TPMS and not the Quickset tool. I have been comparative pricing TPMS between Toyota OEM and online parts sellers such as Rockauto. The prices from Rockauto and other online sellers averages about $10 per TPMS (cloneable) less than Toyota OEM.
    Thanks! Solo

    :) Glad to help!

The cloneable ones would be a good choice too. You just have to pay to get them cloned? Or who does the cloning?

The cloned style TPMS can be reportedly programmed with the ATEQ Quickset Reset tool (according to the ATEQ website),or at a knowledgeable tire shop(pay every time you change wheels). I am still researching TPMS options and have not actually done any TPMS programming. I'm still considering the "pressure vessel" versus 4 new TPMS valves and a TPMS Programming tool.

Does the ATEQ tool allow you to manage the shifting of tire and sensor positions when rotating tires?
e.g. If sensor 1 is on driver side front, can the tool shift it to driver side rear and re-upload into ECU?

Yes the ATEQ software allows you to move the TPMS sensor ID number to which ever location is necessary.
I bought this about a year or so again it it has worked great, with one exception, a bad sensor. Could never get it to load for some reason. My Toyota dealer could but the ATEQ unit just didn't like one sensor.

FWIW, I got a set of used winter tires on my taco and the TPMS light came on as expected. Its not that annoying. It flashes a bit but then goes steady so I don't even notice it really. Not annoying enough to spend $150 plus. Just check the pressures more often until the spring.

How many TPMS sensors can the truck track? I have the factory wheels currently on my truck but have ordered 4 more sensors from Amazon to put on a new set of winter rims I just purchased. Is it possible to have both sets of tires programmed into the truck so I can rotate on my own in the future?

Not sure on the older 2nd Gen's but the 2012-2015's only 4 TPMS sensors. I think the older models may have been able to handle a 5th for the spare.

Getting ready to build a new set of wheels and when I went to order the Schrader programmable sensors I was asked if I wanted the #33000 (315MHz) sensor, or the #33100 (413MHz) sensor. To those that have these, which model works with our trucks?

EDIT: Found my own answer here in this PDF on page 118. For year models 2007-2013 EZ-Sensor #33000 is what they have listed.

Probably, but I only looked for 2011 Tacomas on their list.

You can do it yourself, without needing the ATEQ, by purchasing an OBDII cable and download free Toyota Techstream software, all for around $25 total.

Thank you so much Tomwil. I will file that for future reference. I got new tires earlier this year and debated purchasing new sensors (6.5 years old). I decided to keep my existing sensors until the batteries quit.
