Just bought a set of 4Runner Pro Wheels off of Facebook Marketplace. The guy said that he thinks the tire pressure sensors are installed. Anyone know if there is an easy way to tell whether or not they are?

Post a picture of the valve stems.

    Yes, those are TPMS sensors.

They are TPMS, doesn't necessarily mean they are functioning or will function with your vehicle though. Be careful with the metal valve stems, they turn to swiss cheese in their old age.

Thanks, they were from a 4Runner, so I would think they should work.

You'll want to check the part number that came on whatever year they are, and the part number for your truck and see if they are compatible. You may need to pay a dealer/tire shop to program them, I'm not sure how the new ones work as I've been out of the business for a couple years now, I know some of them auto program these days.

I have a 2012 Tacoma and bought four new wheels/tires taken directly off a 2019.

A local tire place had high hopes of making them work w/o removing the tires but it didn't work. I'll run without use of TMPS's for now, but does anyone know if 2019 wheels TPMS's will work on a 2012 once the serial #'s are known?

    Thanks!

Pretty sure the answer is no.

I would suggest you look up the part number for each year. Different part numbers means most likely a no go.

Thanks, where would you suggest, if you had a place to suggest? I'll try a bit then call my Toyota dealership if I can't find it on my own. Was hoping to "cheat" and find the answer quickly here from someone who might know. Thanks.
