I was about to get some tires and Discount Tire mentions a TPMS Rebuild kit; is this necessary?

It is only $30 so it is not a big deal, but is this just one of those things they throw in for extra costs?

Is there anything to look for if they are saying "I need it"?

I get the rebuild kit when I change tires but mine was only like $3/wheel. It's just a rubber o-ring kit so the TPMS sensor seats to the wheel correctly. It's the equivilent of changing out the valve stems on a normal vehicle since the rubber dries out and can cause a slow leak.
