TPMS sensor for TRD offroad switch.

So I recently bought some OEM TRD offroad wheels that I want to put in my 2016 SR5 Tacoma. When I went to go have them installed along with new tires I was told the TPMS sensor from my stock SR5 would not fit.
So my question is which TPMS sensors should I buy that will fit the TRD wheels? Also the guy who I bought the wheels from said they came off of a 2018 TRD offroad tacoma.

 

Are your old wheels steel? Because those sensors won't fit in alloys from a TRD OR. I believe all the alloy sensors are interchangeable.

 

In most cases, the TPMS can be rotated 180 degrees and reused. I put TRD wheels on my new 2021 SR that had steel wheels. The tire shop was willing to rotate the sensors. After over 1000 miles everything is working great. The only downside is that care must be used when breaking down the time from the rim. You must tell the tech so he can break the tire from the rim on the opposite side from the TPMS. This sure save a lot of $$$$.

I'm planning on buying new TPMS sensors, I have looked up some that fit a 2018 TRD offroad model but I'm not sure if they will work with mine.

 

I went from steel to alloy and just had a tire shop install new tpms because the angle was wrong.

 

Where did you get the sensors from?
Did you have any trouble with the tire pressure readings?

 

Most tire shops already have the tire sensors on hand. No problem reading pressure as long as the correct frequency is used.

So you're saying you can put the sensors in this position on TRD offroad wheels?

 

I did for a week then had all 4 replaced and programmed because if you need to remove the tire for repair or replacement, you’re going to break it.

 

Did you or somebody else reprogram them?

 

I went to a tire shop, done in one hour. Not cheap. Tires are big.

 

How much was the tpms sensors? I got quoted from discount tires for 450 for all new tpms sensor and to swap my tires from a TRD to a another set of wheels.
