Anybody know why so many people list their brand new factory wheels that are take offs but yet many people do not include the TPMS air pressure sensors?

Seems that's counter-productive to selling them if a prospective buyer has to first buy 4 new sensors then pay to have the tires broke down to have them installed. Does the original seller pay to have the sensors took out?

Surely they are not vehicle specific?

the person upgrading doesn't want to pay for new ones, makes sense to me.

I wouldn't include the TPMS sensors either because they'd be in my new wheels. The person buying them should transfer their existing TPMS sensors to them...

When I bought my after market wheels and tires they wanted $40 a tire for TPMS sensors. So I would assume that people are taking their own sensors off and having them installed in there after market tires to save money.

Aftermarket sensors are not easy to make it work with our truck. Guy that did my tires accidently broke one of my tpm sensor, tried using aftermarket for two hours couldn't make it work, end up ordering new one from Toyota. I belive this is the reason people keeping theirs.

They are about $50-$60 each from cheapest online Toyota part centers. My dealer wanted $550 to install new wheels/tires/ and provide new TPMS sensors. I can understand why people keep their original sensors. I found "like new" used ones for $60 for 4.... We will see if I regret it...

I think the real question is......Who needs TPMS? I could care less if that light is on in my truck or not. If you don't like the light you can throw some black electrical tape over it or there are threads on here on how to bypass the light.

HATE having to have TPMS, but given the fact that Uncle Scam makes us, I hate "Tape over the light" or wire cutting, etc even more. I guess if I am honest, it was nice getting the light warning when I had a flat tire on a rode trip... Nothin I wouldn't have noticed in a few minutes without, but...

Who the heck would give up their sensors and buy new ones when they're reusable?

The buyer of my OEM wheels negotiated on the price to include the TPMS sensors. I knew the price of new and used ones and took the guy up on his offer for my wheels and sensors. But the fact that they are reusable explains why the vast majority of wheels listed for sale do not include the TPMS sensors.

Considering that the 2016s use a newer TPMS module, they are harder to find used, and the 2nd gen older ones don't work.

I imagine that is why people are keeping and using them in their new wheels.

Well, I might be in trouble then. I called the dealer, got the part number for the TPMS sensors. And ordered that part number online. Pretty sure it was the same part number as the 2015. We will figure it out when they come in and the selling of my stock rims take place next week

    Appears you need TPMS PMV-C015.

Called another dealer, gave them VIN#, and they quoted same part#: 42607-06011.

This is the part# I ordered. I guess we will see if they are right when they get here and I have my new wheels installed. I would have just ordered the part number you gave, but I can't find any of those anywhere.

As my dad always says "Pay your money, take your chances..."

Just like the other threads, you're going to have those TPMS modules installed and they are probably not going to work on your 2016, causing further costs and troubles.

Hate to say this, but probably better to renege on your sale, and keep your original TPMS modules.

Too bad that is not how I roll. I will figure this out, and keep my end of the bargain. It might cost me a little more in the end, but I think the deal I worked out on my OEM wheels is a winner for me and a winner for the buyer, even if I have to find other sensors.
