    Hello all,

Just installed some FJ wheels on the truck and loving them. Firestone also installed some tpms sensors but as soon as I unloaded the old wheels and drove off, on came the yellow light.

Firestone says the spare never had a tpms as the valve was not metal, looked rubber to me. Is this the case or an issue since we replaced only 4 sensors? (2012, 4x4, base model 2 door)

Could the truck just need a ecu reset to solve the issue?

    Thanks !

You have to have the dealer reset. No way around it. No TPMS in the spare.

Toyota only allows the truck to recognize four sensors. If you are swapping summer/winter you will have to have the dealer reset each time or deal with the light. I finally got rid of my second set. Search TPMS pipe bomb. It's a good alternative.

    TPMS System types

    Indirect TPMS
Ø Uses the ABS system to determine differences in tire pressure
Ø May be difficult to recognize

    Direct TPMS
Ø Uses separate sensors mounted in the wheel/tire assembly
Ø Allows actual measurement of tire pressure

Maybe this article will help . . .

To all those who have a problem with their tire pressure sensor dash light.

My TPMS would not go out no matter what I did. I figured I would give it one more try as a last resort. It might be worth a try before taking the dash apart and cutting any wires.

    1. Turn the ignition on, push the TPMS switch until the light goes out.

    2. Turn the ignition off

    3. Turn the ignition back on and even though the light is out . . . hold the TPMS switch until the Tire Pressure light flashes 3 times and shut the ignition off again.

My TPMS light would come on exactly at 2 miles every time I reset the switch for over a year.

Since the reset, I've put over 100 miles on and the light hasn't come on since. [IMG]

    I hope this post helps.
