TPMS won't reset

Just did my seasonal winter tire changeover. The wheels are the factory alloys with the original TPMS sensors so 9.5 years old now. The TPMS light on the dash comes on and flashes for a while before staying on solid. The reset procedure isn't working. I've verified with a digital gauge that the pressure in all four tires is 32 PSI. Is it safe to say one of the sensor batteries has finally died?

 

Yep, some sort of failure. A good tire shop should be able to read the exact tire for a 20.00 TPMS replacement.

 

So your aftermarket set is no tpms?

last thing I suggest is higher pressure, try 35 psi.

the factory sensors can read 3psi lower than gauges sometimes.

 

The summers are on aftermarket wheels with aftermarket TPMS. I will try airing up to 35 PSI tomorrow and see if that makes any difference. I'm in Canada and the shops around here are going to want $200+ if I want to replace all four so I will probably just live with the light on my dash.

 

Are they cloned sensors? Otherwise it needs to be programmed every swap using a scan tool

 

The ones on there now are the original factory sensors.

 

Yes but was the after market set programmed to the truck?

The truck only has one set it’s memory at a time.

Yup!

it’s a pain, I just leave the light on during winter, but it’s required every time you do the swap.
