I'm running the stock 16" wheels on my 2022 OR. I'd like to get 17s and maybe use the 16s for my monthly 4L/4H maintenance runs.

Not sure about what to do regarding the TMPS sensors. If I transfer the existing sensors to the 17s and run the 16s without sensors, I believe a 'TPMS light' will illuminate somewhere. I found a thread on this issue dated 2018 and the common solution was a black piece of tape over the light. I'd like not to do this.

After my monthly fun in the sand, I put my 17s with sensors back on the truck.

    - wouldn't the truck sense the sensors are back and turn off this TMPS light? if not, is there really no way to turn of this light? is this 'TPMS light' associated with a DTC code so that it turns off if I clear the code? if I decide to trade in this truck in the future, I'm pretty sure any dealership that sees that light on will reduce their offer accordingly.

    - is buying 4 new sensors for the new set of wheels the only way to resolve this? for those of you running 2 sets of wheels (winter/non-winter), how do you keep this TMPS light from turning on?

You can buy sets that clone the OEM set, so no programming needed, you just bolt whatever set you need on.

Most large tire shops have these available now. We use Wurth brand sensors.

Personally I wouldn't bother, unless that light really bothers you. Every time the oem set is installed it should clear with time. As long as the pressures are above threshold. Sometimes you have to reinitialize them.

Yes it will. You’ll have the tpms light while the 16s are mounted. When you mount the 17s it will find the sensors right away and shut off or, worst case, you hold the tpms reset button by your left knee until the light flashes a number of times and then drive for up to 20 minutes for the truck to find them
