Hi, if I’m using a 5 channel amp, does the instructions for the T harness cabling and pinouts change? I’m kind of confused because there seems to be a connection between the Key amp harness and the metra for power and ground. Would I just bypass this step since I’m using a different amp with direct power from battery?

I put mine under the driver seat. People say they haven't had any issues, but being in az I rather not risk putting something hot in a spot that gets hot in a place that is hot as fuck.

It’ll be tight. A lot of people opt to put it elsewhere but it fit for me...barely.

You are correct. The yellow and black wires get spliced straight together (same as the orange and red wires) and you get your power from the battery and ground it at the amp location.
Instead of connecting the Metra harnesses to the Key’s harnesses, you’ll connect them to Two lengths of speed wire and route those to the amp location.

Sorry I’m a newbie when it comes to installing amps. This may be a dumb question so please be easy on me lol.

On the input side of the 5 channel amp, there are RCA inputs for the sub. I don’t think our factory non jbl HU have sub outputs? So what would I connect into the sub input on the amp, if anything?

All 5ch amps have some type of switch for the sub channel. It will either let you use the inputs, or pull signal from one of the other inputs.

the main thing you want to check is which other input the sub will use. Some amps use the front, some use the rear, and some pull signal from both. If the sub channel pulls from the rear inputs, you want to swap the front and rear inputs and outputs (meaning plug the front RCA’s into the rear inputs, and wire your front speakers to the rear outputs. Repeat for other set of speakers)

Thanks for the quick reply. Is there a 5 channel amp you would recommend that makes installation as easy as possible? I was looking at the Infinity Reference 7005A but if there’s another one that’s not too costly?

The install is going to be very similar for all of them

How much will I need to leave on the RCA connection to be able to use it to pre-wire for a sub?

You don’t even have to cut it if you don’t want to. Use a fresh razor blade to shave off about ½” of the rubber insulation from the white and grey wires. But if you want to cut them, leave about 3” of wire on the RCA side

So, the purple and green I'm good to cut off close to the RCA, right?

I mean I would still leave 2-3” of wire on them. They’re very useful for other audio projects you might decide to do

Thanks to this post and forum members I was able to finish the metra harness. Mine's slightly different since I’m using speed wires. Just waiting for the amp to arrive to see if it all works. Here are some progress pics.

Hey all! I just want to make sure I've got everything right before I get it all crimped and heat shrunk together, thanks in advance! @destin_meeks @tpp4

@destin_meeks do you know if Metra or anyone makes the correct adapters required to create the T-harness for the 2020 8” Entune yet?

Lol I had previously tagged you in a question but deleted it as I need to do some more reading...

    @destin_meeks & @tpp4 HELP...Please... same/similar question as above...

For my 2020 audio 8" base stock HU in my 2020 OR do I need the Metra 70-1761 & Metra 71-1761 or the 70-1765 & 71-1765.

If I've read it right I need the Metra 70-1761 & Metra 71-1761?
