This is in no way posted in such a tone that insults and attacks you or your intelligence, but that suggestion is very wrong.

Crankshaft position sensors either work or they do not. If he was experiencing issues dying at random with periods of no restarts or a no start condition entirely I would tell him to check it, but his issue is throttle based.

OP if your scan tool logs graphically the voltage you must do a voltage sweep with the ignition on, slowly depress the pedal until full and observe for any glitches in the graph. Amount open percentage means nothing to me. I am more interested in the voltage output from the TPS in suspect. You are looking for a clean sweeping voltage upwards from 0.5 volts all the way to 4.5 volts. If you cannot check it like that, my suggestion is to take it to someone who has the tool or borrow the tool from someone yourself and inspect it. Like I said though, slow depression as you observe for glitches in the signal is key!

A digital voltmeter will NOT suffice in this situation. As it only shows you voltage, not glitches within the voltage signal.

    Let us know.

6”rough country lift, 35” bfg mud terrain, step bars, home made solid 5" bull bar frame mounted top and bottom with gussets ( used an excavator to completely suspend the truck in the air held only by the bull bar), 180k, no rust, no leaks, no cel's, no issues. 4wd conversion with front and rear e-lockers.
I noticed this issue on mine. It will only go from 11.6% throttle at idle up to 76% wot. If looking at the butterfly it never opens up 100% also so the % the sensor is putting out is correct.. if i push on the buttrfly and 0% close it, truck dies cuz duh, no air.. havent pushed it open to 100% though..
Also the wine that was talked about.. i noticed that only when i have the scanner connected to the obd port, it will wine only when you depress the gas at all and will continue to wine until i remove the scanner or cycle ignition..
My question is why the hell cant i go full retard and get 100% throttle? Can understand the 11% at idle.. but other than that i have no issues. Well other than a p2238 o2 sensor and just gotta replacet

Reviving this one again because I noticed the same issue with scan tool plugged in. Throttle is always between 14-79%. Wondering if anyone who replaced the TPS or throttlebody is getting TPS readings above 80% afterwards?

No you should never get a reading over 80%.. per service manual.. says no throttle should be between 6-20% and 65-80% or around there. Don’t recall exact numbers but that range is around it.. i always wondered this as well because if you look into the throttle body you can see the butterfly never opens up all the way.. only 75% or about. Ive wondered what the motor would do if you were to say take all the slack out of the cable and force it open.. probably set a code of tps circuit high or something but my bet is would open it up and give it some much needed balls..

Adding if you do replace it and it isnt within the range the ecu will shut power to the throttle motor making the gas petal only work for the last 25% of the petal…. If any of the codes are set with the tps. There’s like 5 of em.. you can run without it and just move the throttle cable bracket but the transmission also uses the tps to gauge its shift press and it will shift like a neutral drop every time until put a correct tps in..
