My 01 v6 has thrown the code for a new throttle position sensor, dealer wants $80 for sensor, $100 to put on, I could easily put it on and save $100, but they say it has to be programmed? Does anyone know if programming is required?

Save yourself $100 and put it on yourself! And it does not need to be programmed! At least I didn't program mine when I changed it out and it's running fine. No more code thrown either. Took me less than 15 minutes to change.

It's very simple to replace, just take your time, don't drop the bolt (s) down onto the top of the engine and you will be fine.

Dealer may be thinking "tps" tire pressure sensor.... not " tps" throttle position sensor?

Doesn't need to be programmed, just needs to be clocked correctly if I remember correctly.

I'll see if I can find the service manual pages for you.

Let the Dealer do it and say you want to watch while they "program" the TPS. That's BS! trying to make money anyway they can. Yeah the lever inside the TPS has to be turned a certain way but its nothing you cant do by removing the old one and installing it the same way it came out. Check rock auto or camelback Toyota. I bought one recently that a member here on TW saw on ebay. The guy was selling Toyota oem tps sensors for like $3. I bought it just because it was so cheap. I replaced it and runs normal. Point is, check ebay also.
