Okay so about a month ago I started the truck and drove for about a mile and trac off and check engine light came on. I had a 1/4 tank of gas so I decided to get gas but when I tried to start the truck the truck wouldn't crank over, it would try to start but it sounded like it was starving for fuel. Eventually after 6-7 starting attempts I was able to get it started and drove it home, it seemed to run fine.

Took it AutoZone next day and 0455 and 0441 codes come up. Guy tells me same thing happened to his taco and tells me to change the purge solenoid valve. I also change the gas cap since it seemed to be a reoccurring issue I was reading about. I change both that morning and about 60 miles later both lights went off. Truck seemed to start better too. After a month I'm driving home and the same lights came on again, I stop and have the codes checked and it's the same two. Different AutoZone employee tells me replace the MAF sensor (400.00) but I'm a little irritated and decide to do some research. I get gas on the way home and the truck won't crank over again, it stutters and after about 6-7 attempts in 20 minutes it barely cranks and I'm able to drive it home.

I get home and while the truck is running I unplug the MAF sensor and the truck stays running which based on YouTube that should mean the MAF sensor is bad right? I drive it and it seems to be fine (no hesitation or power issues and my gas mileage is around 25 on a 30 minute drive). I have about 5 gallons of gas at home and decide to put it in the truck to see if I have the same starting issues and yes the truck won't crank over. This time it only takes 3 attempts to get the truck running but the issue remains.

I don't necessarily want to guess on a 400 dollar part only to find out it's something else. But it's my daily driver and can't afford to be without a vehicle.

Has anyone ever run into these issues? Thanks for any help in advance.

Your codes a are not MAF related. You may need to troubleshoot the evap components
BTW, OEM MAF doesn't cost $400. It is around $150-170.

here are items for you code p0455

The purge circuit maybe be faulty.
Or even more likely, the Purge Solenoid is bad ....again.
If you bought an aftermarket one, I'm going with Bad Solenoid.

But you should still diagnose the issue.

Purge valves leak all the time. I've had them leak brand new out of the box. I'll bet the autozone valve is leaking again

Unplug the connector and test it by checking for vacuum at the canister side port with the engine idling. There should be no vacuum. Any presence of vacuum at all is a leaking valve. It should only be open when commanded by the pcm
