Trac Off / Check Engine Light

I have a 2017 TRD Sport i bought used with 8,000 miles. Had it three weeks and got home today started it up and the TRAC OFF and Check Engine Light was on. It wasn't when I shut it off on Monday?

What the Heck? Any other issues with this?

 

Could be as simple as the gas cap is not on tight. Since it should still be under warranty, let the dealer check it out.

 

I checked the gas cap... I bought a locking gas cap and saw a search on google that said the gas cap.... I double checked it and it was tight, restarted truck and both were still on... Usually check engine light will stay on until the engine cycles a few times but if gas cap was the issue I thought the Trac Off light would have shut off?

 

Put the stock cap back on, drive it around awhile...

 

Gas cap or it is, age wise, due for service. If you change your own oil etc then there are simple instructions on how to reset the engine light on Youtube. But Ya have 25,000 miles and 3 years free service so take it to Toyota.

 

thanks guys, I will put the stock cap back on and see what happens... If it doesn't fix I will drop by trhe dealer in the morning!

 

So took it to dealer and it was indeed the gas cap.... Why don't these come with a locking door, or at least with the door that you open from the inside of the truck...

 

I have one of these hooked up, so I can easily get the code for if/when the engine light comes on.
