Tracked down a few year old audible clunk

My truck has had a light audible clunk since installing 5100s years ago. It only happened when turning sharply in and out of driveways. Everything was tight and new with no sign of contact anywhere, and I couldn't feel it nor did it effect drivability.

Today I was bumping up my 5100s a notch and when the spring was removed I found this. The upper spring isolater was fully folded over in one spot; since then the rubber relaxed but you can see where it was folded over. It's been like this I'm sure since the 5100s were first installed.



That gave enough play when in some situations (i.e. steering at slow speed) where the spring could contact the top hat. It's harmless and it didn't bother me but I'm glad it's gone.

 

Nce job finding the source of your sound.

I've noticed an audible clunk/popping sound and feeling when I go full lock after installing and OME lift. Im still trying to figure out the source of my noise.

Update: This was 100% the clunk. It's been days and it hasn't returned.
