I've accepted the reality that my vehicle can get stolen despite the alarms, kill switch, parking in a safe location, cameras, etc.

What can I do to help police track the vehicle after the fact? And maybe even help bring down a larger vehicle theft ring if it ends up somewhere on a bigger scale?

Anyone using AirTag or other trackers to help with this?

Check out drone mobile. I use it and can find my truck if it were stolen.

I got a remote start with the cellular module. Let's me lock and unlock my truck via the app as well as see the location of it via the cell signal.

Just hide the cell module so thieves don't find it and you can track it even while it the trucks off. I paid like $320 for the whole plug n play kit a few years ago...not sure what prices have gone up to these days but it's an option.

But will full coverage insurance get you to the head of the line when ordering a new Tacoma? The wait for a new one is long.

I would not buy any new vehicles in this financial climate, would just run the junker as long as I could and put the money under my pillow and be glad I don’t have a payment.

Car theives are rarely charged with the theft, you can't prove it.

You can only charge them with possession of stolen property, which is a piddly crime.

We caught one thief with my bosses truck and the police demanded we not interfere, he ended up ramming a police car.

If you interfere, its possible someone innocent may get hurt and you can be partially held liable. It's best to use a tracker to recover the vehicle, but as for punishing thieves, its hopeless.

These thieves use jammers to block signals so regardless of what tracker you put in it, it will show up months later in Africa before the police get a chance to catch them here...
