I've had this system on my truck for about 5 years with zero issues. maybe even installed by the OP at Rack Attack in Portland.

So these work fine with the Yakima Landing Pads and towers?
I asked if this combo worked to Rack Outfitters in an email and they stated that you need to stick with all Rhino rack pieces since the Landing Pads flex too much on the track. I'm pretty invested in Yakima pieces and wouldn't want to buy a whole new rack system (bars and towers) as it would kill the budget for adding racks to my DCSB.
What is the real world experience with non Rhino Rack mounts and towers in/on the RTS Ditch tracks?

My Thule podium mounts work fine on both track brands.

Same here. Drilling into the roof is out-of-bounds for me. Looks like a brilliant system otherwise -- I'd missed this thread until now.

Has anyone mounted them using only the original rivnuts?

I love finding old threads and bringing them back to life. Though this one was only six months old.

From what I can tell the ditch mount needs the extra holes to keep it from flexing in certain spots. While if you mount a hard rack directly, like a prinsu, the rack is rigid so it can be mounted using only the stock holes without drilling.

I did have a two local shops tell me they install tracks on Tacomas a lot and do drill on them all. I don't like that idea at all either.

Since mine’s an AC with no rivnuts preinstalled drilling was the only option. Glad I did it and no regrets. No leaks either after winters and car washes. I get the reluctance but these trucks already have holes in them all over and this is a permanent install that looks stock.

this is an awesome idea. Too bad I already drilled 12 holes in my roof for the Prinsu.
