First toyota so I thought I would go big. I have had 2 separate dealerships look at this problem and asked several members of this forum and I am still looking for a way to fix this.

Tire size are the BFG 35" with 18" wheels. They do not appear to be rubbing anywhere.

Truck in normal mode: Every turn sets off the auto traction control (or possibly the ABS?) which sounds like a horrible grinding sound and won't stop until the wheels are turned forward. The traction control light blinks on the dash

Truck with the traction control button pushed once: This same thing happens as above but only on sharper turns. Normal turns but sharper.

Truck after holding traction control button down for 3 seconds (says "TRAC OFF" on dash): The problem only happens on faster turns and less often, but still happens.

    Possible problems:

Damaged Yaw sensor? - Dealerships assured me they were not damaged

Tire rubbing? - Not noticeably but would a rub set off the sensor? That's my question to this forum

What about this.....The dealership also told me they could not program it for the 6" lift. They could only go up to 4" on the computer. Next question: Does anyone know of a programmer for the '16 trucks with a 6 incher? Would that fix the problem?

Several other members have said they experienced no such issues with their 6" lifts so that makes me think I can fix this issue.
    MUCH MUCH THANKS

What about disabling the VSC and ABS? Either via removal of the fuse or actually cutting the wire?

I'm having the same problem, however my grinding noise doesn't appear until I'm flexing the suspension, turning, and breaking. I don't know why more members with lifts aren't having this issue, I thought it would be quite common as I'm running a 3" suspension lift like most here are. I've had several dealerships tell me there's no recalibrating the truck for a lift of any kind, and now I hear this. :annoyed:

Both dealerships tried the VSC recalibration and they both say their computers don't have the option of recalibrating up to 6" and 35" tires. Yet.

Thinking about lighting it on fire and starting over. Just kidding. I'm willing to bet someone will make a programmer for this issue soon.

    enough to go over stuff
Happened to my prerunner after a 2 inch lift. The dealership recalibrated the VSC and I was good to go. No issues on my 4x4.

    Update:

I removed the ABS #2 fuse. She now runs like a top...except the ABS light is on.

Yep. I guess thats dangerous in wet weather. We get used to the luxury of modern day safety features in newer vehicles. I have old jeeps and a 79 Bronco without ABS and this might as well be that.

If it's anything like a 4runner, which I believe it is but others can confirm, the vsc calibration on tacoma's takes just seconds. You can do it with a paperclip.

Newer Motorcycles have this same issue when your running larger overall diameter tires. Results can be more dangerous compared to a truck.

I always say, if your gonna do something, do it right.

Go get your truck re-calibrated, you've invested the money in the tires, don't cheap out on a extra $100 to get the rest done.

2 different dealerships have done the $100 recalibration that didn't work.

    Too few to list.
This has been an issue with 2nd gens since 2009. As far as I know, the VSC recalibration does not specify a ride height or tire size. It's basically resetting the yaw sensors as lifts affect the angle from stock. In my experience with my 2011, it's not so much the lift that activated it but the tire size. I lifted before I can put on larger tires and truck was fine through the mountain turns and as soon as I got 285's, I couldn't make a decent speed u-turn without setting it off unless it was basically crawling. My solution was to put an VSC/ABS on/off switch. In my 2009, I just did a leveling with the 5100's and never changed tire size and VSC was never an issue. I was thinking of going 285's again on my 2015 then I thought about it some more and decided against it. Search for the VSC/ABS off thread and compare the wire colors in your 2016. It could be the same. You can be the guinea pig.

Yep, really common on the new Rushmore Harleys. Big front wheel an abs issues.

    I'd love to have a new CTS/ATS-V

Was not aware of those, I was referring to the new Yamaha R1, Ducati Panigale's with stability, wheelie, traction and slide control.

If my front sits higher than the rear....could that affect it?
