    3rd generation Tacoma,

I have a question for 2016 tacoma drivers, this is my first truck and before that i used to drive manuals all the time.. well this time i chose to go automatic on my tacoma. Idk if this is normal on this trucks, but my drive way is on a little bit of "hill" but in general when i drive my truck and i have to stop on a hill for a stop or any reason my truck starts going back and the traction control sound and light comes on!! I ask the dealership "thecs" many times and they said that is nothing wrong with the truck. I know if you stop obviously you have to step on the break, but on any brand new truck comes a brand new/strong transmission that can the vehicle at stop if you dont press the break on a hill, at least for me it has been my experience on any other vehicle with automatic transmission.
Does anyone knows if its normal for these trucks to do that??

I don't know why this is an issue for some, but I've seen this complaint with both tacoma and tundra.

It's not good for the transmission to hold any vehicle on a steep incline, toyota designed the transmission to let the vehicle roll back unlike older transmissions.

Some (not all) models have hill start assist but its still not intended to hold the vehicle.

Best advise that I give everyone is to left foot brake and right foot gas to prevent roll back. Or use the now convenient hand brake.

All of the Toyotas do this and it is normal. Mine does it and I have hill start control.

Uh wait, so let me get this straight. You're asking if in order to stop your truck, you need to use the brakes? Can we refer you back to the DMV so you have to take your driving test again?

Well considering you can't form coherent sentences and don't know the difference between break and brake, I can see why I am reading it wrong. So can you try again so we know what you mean?

Normal, I like it because you can roll back off objects.

Normal.... Automatic transmissions use a fluid coupling. If there isn't enough fluid going through the transmission, it will roll backwards when on a hill. Fluid flow must equal or overcome gravity to keep the truck from moving back.

My truck did exactly the same thing this morning. This is the first time it's happened just wondering if it has happened to you again?
