Got the Kohler transplanted. Still a few odds and ends to take care of.

I set to power washing this unit. I was told that the left hydro pump had a bad seal. I'm doubtful it only had one leaking point.

Damn Sam! What a mess!

That is one heck of a fluid film job, at least everything should be rust free under there.

I had a bunch of full size Jeep Wagoneers back in the day (AMC built). Something up front always leaked so the frame and fittings all stayed good up there -- not so much in the back however.

I heard a clunking one day and found the back eye of the rear leaf spring banging against the floorboards.

    Found a second oil leak.

Hose clamp or hose going into the oil cooler leaking pretty good.

I knew that mess couldn't be from the bad hydro pump alone!

I still have a lot of clean up, as you can tell.

Not sure what to do here.

Fucking mice made a nest under my control board for my 14K Generac gennie. Starter turns over very slow.

    1000 cc Kohler command.

What do you guys do about mice in your shops/houses/cars? Never dealt with them and seeing that mess worries me

Steve Urkell gave me the recipe he uses.

Spray things down with Fluid Film or similar then coat the shit out everything with cheyene (sp) pepper.

My last project I was sneezing for an hour. Where a mask.

I went back to the shop and pulled the hydro for my latest ZT. Even after an hours pressure washing, the thing was oily as hell!

On the plus side all the fasteners loosened great!.

Yep, wiring with FF and everything else with ground cayenne. They don't like it. Freshen up as it fades in color.

    Nope.

This unit only got opened up once a year for services. I've never seen any mice activity until now. I figured it was sealed good.

    I guess not.

After I figure out the issue with it, you can be assured its gonna get a pepper maintenance coat every year!

Lots of poison and traps. It’s what the pros do and it’s pretty effective at control in/around buildings. There are some easy to use poison stations that are pet/kid resistant

If you’re letting something sit (Tacoma/Mastercraft/toyhauler for me), I use grandpa gus’ pouches inside as an extra deterrent to traps around tires on the ground.

I've built little wire mesh cages for my lawnmower, water pump and generator. Light frame and 1/4 inch mesh. Keeps them out. Bait stations in the tractor house.

    I hate electrical issues...
But i got the JD X500 running.

It was a safety switch causing to not start. I hadn't thought about that switch since PTO worked fine once engine started. A broken contact inside would sometimes fall down to make enough contact to read 12v on a multimeter on starting circuit but the vibration of turning motor would make it jump all over 0-12V while trying to start.

That bad switch also seems to be what was making engine bog a little when PTO engaged a few months back.

Runs like new now. Starts easily and barely hear change in engine when PTO engages.

What do you all think of the piranha bars versus tree roots?
I have a lot of roots and tree stumps left overs just below the surface around here. I want to put some sort of edge on to reinforce my bucket while it's still fairly new and not bent.

Haven't contributed in awhile. Haven't been home since early January, which isn't ideal given the unusually high amount of snow the area has seen this winter. Hired someone to make a pass down the driveway so the furnace oil delivery person could deliver to the house. Had quite a bit of clean up to do when I got home. There was a big pile across the driveway blocking me from the garage.

I'm sometimes guilty of underestimating what a subcompact is capable of doing. Or maybe I just overestimate the size of the job. Whichever, I'm super happy to have this machine, and always impressed by the work it can do.
