Wow! I was under the impression that they were harder to come by and I hadn't really looked into that much because of that.

    Where did you find yours?
Btw, thanks for following my roller coaster. I contemplate a lot of things, then come back down to earth when reason sets in. :bikewhoops:

I finally had a chance to actually use the new GT54 last weekend. That thing flies! The 25hp Kohler did struggle a little bit with the large deck and lots of leaves but that is expected. I just slowed down and let it eat so I didn't bog it.

My old mower was a manual, so when I got to the end of a row I'd have to stop and do my 3 point turn one direction at a time. The hydrostatic is so much nicer!

No question, mow (or plow snow) with a hydro once and you never want to go back to a manual.

I found all mine on FB Marketplace. The one with the 3pt was not running but I got it going easily and paid $400 for it. The other 2 were running and $450 and $550 with issues I needed to address. These cost ~$8000 with decks when new and are equivalent to JD X700 series.

I checked my local marketplace and I don't see a lot. I'll have to keep checking it. My only concern is finding one that is in rougher shape than it appears and I don't find out until it is too late. I am not well versed on Cub Cadets or GT's to know exactly what to look for.

I suppose the good thing is that at such a low cost, it is not terrible to have to address issues. So long as it doesn't turn into a BOAT. Bust Out Another Thousand

Yeah, that is one of those crack pipe smoking sellers. They'll be sitting on that for a while.

There was one I saw that they wanted $800 for it. "I know what I have"

The entire deck was rusted, almost no paint left, with large holes. Rust and paint missing over the entire body and chassis. GT 3206

    Nah :der:

    I'll keep looking.

It sounds like that one was in bad shape but don't overlook them if they have rusty spots on the body or deck as long as they aren't a rusted thru POS. They did have poor powdercoat adhesion and many have some falling off of the body. Can work in your favor if they look like hell but are in otherwise good shape.

Nope. Gotta have a hump on the running board. That signifies shaft-drive and a Kohler Command horizontal shaft engine.

Yep, this one should have the cast iron rear which is bulletproof on them, has differential lock(the little pedal on the running board). Deck looks to be a 54" or 60" but looks shot. These decks are shaft driven BTW. Tractor looks decent and the rust on the body panels is in the usual places. Down here that's a $600 GT max if it runs good and doesn't have 1500hrs.

That's a really nice 2000 series. It has a Command engine and a BDU-10L shaft driven hydro. It's the precursor to the new Cub XT3 and the hydro is equivalent to the Tuff-Torq K66-K72s.

The only detractor to the 2000 series vs the 3000 series is the BDU-10 in these doesn't have an auxiliary hydraulic circuit so all accessories are either electric, manual, or they had a tiller that was hydraulic but the pump was belt driven off the PTO i think.

The 3000 series has a K92 equivalent BDU-21L hydro which has an auxiliary hydraulic circuit. That means you can add extra spool valves and run extra stuff like my loader and 3-pt hitch.

In this area it is tough to get any kind of GT for $600. Clapped out riding lawn mowers, sure but not real GTs. :(

I keep my eyes peeled and only jump on the screaming deals. I've passed on a pile that I should have bought but I just can't take in any more stragglers. A quick search just turned up this nice 2000 for $400 in Topeka.
