I got all the replacement plastic and tins from e-bay for only about $35 for the JD that the tree fell on.

I'm no expert, but shouldn't the pushrod be in the cup of of the rocker and not sitting against the valve cover gasket?

Also there should be 2 screws holding the choke plate to the shaft.

Things not looking too good for this engine.

This engine spent a lot of time with the intake full of water.

I put bronze pedal bushings in the 3225 today. Speeds these Cubs up. Both of these are done. I was running with the park brakes aet on the 3205 until the last straight run.

Is this the type of project you put a new engine in and still make mega profit?

I was hoping no engine needed, but it's not looking like that.

The walk behind units are not big money makers.

So, to answer your question. No.

I don't see a huge profit on this rig.

Yesterday and today I made some good progress splitting firewood. It felt good to bring the wood splitter out of winter storage finally.

    Saturday morning:

    Sunday afternoon:

I still have a few large cottonwood rounds to split but I think I'll do that next weekend. I don't know if I've shown you guys this before but here is my PTO powered wood splitter. I think I paid 4 or 5 hundred dollars for it and it is everything I could ever hope for.

On a different note, a month or so back I asked you all your opinions on a dump trailer vs a one ton with a dump bed. I went the trailer route. At the end of the day it just felt like the smart decision to make.

As for the chassis, this is in great shape. The engine has been abused. I'm getting a vibe I should be looking for a new power plant.

I did a half assed carb clean before dinner. Threw it back on and still not getting any fuel into the combustion chamber.

Popped off the flywheel just to see how dirty the fins were. Fins were decent. Magnets, not so much. Looks like I'll be gluing these back on before I go any further.

I think I'll farm out the magnet work and carb work to my brother in law. He is amazing at that stuff. I'm a remove and replace kinda guy.

Can I get a hint on your location? Nothing specific is necessary. North west, north east, south west, yadda, yadda, yadda.

    By Jackson.

I probably have a good 8.5 B&S vertical for a smaller walk behind lying around. C&I Cast Iron cylinder. [It's in a walk behind that has a wiped transaxle but one isn't available, already looked]

    Ugh, they're multiplying...

I found a donor mower with a good motor. I gotta swap a bunch of crap over as well, but hopefully I will have one good runner before too long.

I do need find some rear tires though. The original mower has 18's and the latest one has 20's. The 20's are dry rotted something fierce.
