Lol. Just have to know their demeanor. Here's another one from a couple years ago by my wellhouse. He didn't want to be touched, so I didn't.

Completed the 1st 10 hour service and inspection. Checked all visible bolts and lines, only had to tighten 2 hydraulic lines up a smidgen. I also completed a 10 hour service on the tractor.

I never got my bulk fuel delivery yesterday, now I'm down to just a 1/4 tank, but I'm locked in at $4.99 for farm diesel. I'm not running any equipment past 12:30/1pm it's just too hot out.

Sounds like you got a well prepped one, cranking out the work already.

$4.99 is what we are paying for regular gasoline here -- I bet your supplier is singing the blues.

Taxed diesel is 5.99 here, so 4.99 looks like a deal.

I caught 7 copperheads in a 30 minute span right off the front porch last year. I'm pretty sure there was a nest and I cleared it. In the prior two weeks I had caught another 4 more. I haven't seen one since. We ripped out all of our boxwood hedges and cleared brush around the edges of the yard to remove their shelter.

I relocated the 4 about a mile away and killed the 7. At that point I was not messing around. Non-venomous snakes always have a place on my property. My neighbors look at me like I'm crazy.

    Yep.
How'd you go about catching them?

Just past our first year in NC, we've only offed one copperhead so far.

A set of 47" snake tongs and those plastic bins. Grabbing them is the easy part. Once they're pinched, they aren't going anywhere. The hard part is putting them in a container because you have to touch the container to put the lid on.

Statistically, interacting with a venomous snake by attempting to kill or catch it puts you at a much higher risk of a bite than just leaving the area and letting it go on its way.

My reason for actively seeking them out was they were in my yard directly off our porch and exactly where we play with our three young children and I have a high chance of accidentally encountering them while landscaping or playing. Otherwise, I have let many larger Timber Rattlesnakes go on their way because where they were I have a low chance of encountering them accidentally.

Occupational Snake Bites: a Prospective Case Series of Patients Reported to the ToxIC North American Snakebite Registry - PMC (nih.gov)

I used to relocate all venomous snakes near my house. But now with children they are killed.

I bought a little bond arms derringer last year for the snakes. It shoots 2 1/2” .410 shells or .45 Colts :D

I have looked at those long and hard. I don't know anyone who has a derringer. I always wondered long you hand took to recover from firing that.

The reason I asked was that I have scandium very light weight SW .357 cal. I shot it using .357 twice, not two sessions but two rounds. It would take me too long to pull that thing down and get off a second effective shot. Even with practice I was never going to be as sharp with it loaded with .357. I have used it with .38 ever since. Let me tell you, my hand was sore.

I load .38 Shot Shells for copperheads.
