I do and I’ve definitely considered something similar with the ties. No idea where to get them for free/cheap though?

RR ties, tires and dirt are some of the best building blocks for a private range.

They replace them every few years and leave the old ones alongside the tracks at least for a while.
Might need permission to be on railroad property.
I have a friend that works for the railroad and we got hundreds for various projects.

I need a tractor for residential use, I have 1.5 acres. Need to move some logs, dirt, light bush hogging, gravel work. Etc etc.

Can anyone recommend specific models to me?

Any of the brand names are good these days, John Deere, New Holland, Kubota, Kioti, Mahindra, etc. Do you have any tractor places near you? That may help narrow it down since you could go there and get filters and parts if needed. But then again you can order almost anything these days so there's that.

I will say get something a little bigger than you think you'll need, you'll use the extra HP and weight more than you think

I have this kind, they are awesome. Easy to just put the pin in to lock them in position or remove the pin for free swinging.

That looks great. I need to look closer though since the B series Kubota has them on the inside of the arms and not the outside.

I'd start with what dealers are near you and then look at their subcompact line of tractors. More HP is better than less. With most manufacturers, you can get up to 25hp in the subcompact line, that's under the emissions limit for tractors. Be sure to get a loader; I'd also get a box blade, 4'-5' brush hog, and a 54"-60" mower deck. With all of that, you can easily maintain just about anything. If your wallet can afford it, get the model with all the bells and whistles on it. Like rear remotes, hydraulic top link, telescoping stabilizers like six5creed has, extendable lower links. I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of, Ask Tractor Mike has a good video on some of the better ones to look for. Tractor time with Tim also has a good playlist for new tractor buyers.

You could say that, but you can.:( My Gen 1 backstop was just two layers of RR ties. After I started inviting other friends over to shoot and two .30 cal bullets appeared lodged in the side of the barn. I built the Gen 2 backstop, which is why it is now 3x wider and 4x deeper than the first generation wall. You really have to miss BIG to hit the broadside of the barn now... :D

Those are the same type I have, they are so much better than a turnbuckle.

To expand a bit more on why to choose a dealer closer to you than to say just go buy a Kabota or John Deere because they are the biggest manufacturers of tractors. If the dealership you buy from is 200 miles away and you need service from them for anything, you have to be able to get your tractor to the dealership for that service. The dealerships will come to get your tractor for you if you don't have the truck and trailer to haul it yourself, but most of them charge $2+ per mile. So if you have a warranty claim repair with that dealer that is 200 miles away, it could still cost you $400+ in transportation costs for that warranty service. If you instead bought a Kioti or New Holland that is only 20 miles away, any service needs would be much easier to obtain. I wouldn't buy a tractor just based on how close or far they are to me, but it would be a factor to consider. In 4 years of ownership, I've had to take my tractor to the dealership once and had the service tech come to my place to read the codes twice, and my dealership is about 20 miles one way. All of my service issues turned out to be fuel related. So if you like the JD way better than the Kabota, but it's an extra 50 miles away, I'd get the JD, but I'd also figure out which of my friends had a truck and trailer I could borrow if I didn't already own one myself.

Well im not exactly liking the looks of my boats spark plugs. (are we adding boats to the title too?) 2-stroke v6 Yamaha. they've been in there 2 years maybe? we don't get to use her as much as we used to so I figured 2 years wouldn't hurt. every single terminal tip was loose except one. I didn't change them myself last time.

I found an old rim with the same bolt pattern. I plasma cut the center out of the old, good rim.

I used this new center as a template to cut out the bad wheel center.

o_O Would not run on my trailer. Sometimes it’s best to buy a new wheel.
