While the Kubota is down waiting on a window (which I haven’t ordered yet), I decided to chase down a short that it has recently developed. It has been blowing the 5 amp A/C control panel fuse for the last few days. You can put a fuse in and it will run until you hit a bump and it will blow again. I pulled the headliner, seat and loosened the side panel. Then I unplugged the ac control panel harness and pulled it back up through the roll bar/rops. There were three wires shorting to ground on the rops where the harness makes the bend to go into/behind the headliner. Before I pulled the headliner, with the key on and blower and a/c compressor off, the blower was running slowly and the a/c compressor was engaging and disengaging at almost a flicker-like pace. I assume that the 3 wires that are rubbed through are an a/c compressor signal wire, a 12v power wire and the blower motor wire. I circled the area where the wires were rubbing in red. Only 8 hrs in, but I'm impressed with the little BX23S so far. Grading/leveling out 3+ acres for the first project.

Nice tractor! Is that a Hudson trailer? I know some of the Hudson family, they make some great trailers

    Yep.
Not sure on the trailer make. Wish it was mine but the trailer is the dealers; Kubota was delivered last Saturday.

Stevenson Tractor in VA received 3 of these in earlier this month. I was lucky enough to snag the last one before going on a long wait list.

Tell me you took the picture after they had unchained it, and that they didn’t deliver it just relying on that strap around the brush guard to keep it secured on the trailer?

Good eye. Pic was taken mid-unload and a few straps had been taken off.

I always go with the "if 4 straps are good 7 must be better" method.
I have had people laugh at me -- never had any misadventures either.

Never moved mine without a chain and tensioner.
The straps are just to keep DOT happy.

    Well shit!

Toro just started blowing main fuse.

It will run fine with the charge wire disconnected. (Until the battery discharges, obviously)

    Bad stator?
    Bad rectifier?
    Bad battery?
    Flywheel magnets?

Main charging line off of voltage regulator reads direct short to ground. Will swap out voltage regulator 1st. Maybe I can get off cheap? I dunno. As much dirt and oil all over this thing, I got a suspicious feeling the stator is packed full of dirt. I'm thinking my pressure washing might have made things worse. Regardless, it's better to find these issues sooner than later.

I was on the fence taking the motor out to change a head gasket. No question now. It's coming out.PXL_20210719_232759073.jpg It's a lot easier doing the work on the bench.

In addition I can clean the chassis properly without that engine in the way.

I think it takes a special kind of stupid(me) to want a fuel injected Kohler powered ZT .

I'm not loving all these wires.

They do look quite well preserved, since they have been living in a 5W-30 oil bath for several years.PXL_20210723_190442148.jpg

Never have too many, I spoke with my cousin, he is a DPS supervisor here in Tx, he told me 2 chains on the tractor, strap the shredder and strap front attachement or bucket and I will always be good with anyone who is a bit picky, lol I didnt mention my weight or type trailer.
