They do on the 7000s as well.

    Yikes... 300hrs?

    upload_2022-5-2_10-18-51.jpg

Edit: that's for Commands with the Pro filter and Oil. I don't see their Pro oil listed for 7000s.

Their 7000 Pro filter is 100hrs

I don't support the idea of a 100 (much less a 300) hour oil change especially in a non commercial application. That is a lot to ask (IMO) of 2 quarts of oil in an air cooled engine.

Too many people see "100 or 300 hours" and read no further paying no mind that a homeowner might take 10 years to put on those hours.

Anyone have a good source for cheap lawnmower casters? Ones like from a walk behind or ZT? I have yet to find a dilapidated enough one on FBM that the owner doesn't think is worth it's weight in gold.

Check out surpluscenter. I bought some 5" wheels on there for $.50 each a couple months ago.

Aww man I love surpluscenter, I don't think they have what I need though. I'm probably just going to build my own, The thrust washers are supposed to arrive in a day or two. I just feel lazy I guess.

Well, Kohler is opposed to upgrading the air filter. :pout:

I have a 2021 Cub Cadet XT1 GT54 with the KT740-3085 engine and would like to know if it is possible to upgrade my air filter and air filter housing to the Pro series air filter. I have the standard size air filter now. It looks like the Base, cover, and latches are compatible. I'd like to know what the engineers at Kohler say about this modification. I do not want to void my warranty but I operate in very dusty conditions so I believe this upgrade would be a great improvement. Thanks

"Thank You for contacting Kohler Engines. Changing of the air intake system will void the engines warranty for being modified. It also changes the emission of the engine as the carburetor is calibrated for each air box and air filter assembly."

That is fair. I expected that response but I hoped that they would approve.

Any chance we could see some pics of your air filter? Specifically the intake diameter.

Swap it back to stock if it needs warranty work?

I understand the warranty part, I don't understand the calibration part. The engine will only take in so much air as it's restricted by the carb inlet size. You aren't adding a turbo so the volume would be the same in and out of the engine.

That's rediculous that it would void the warranty!

Is this a fuel injected engine?

Can't you keep the old filter and quickly swap it out if you need warranty service?

Sure, I'll take a look tonight.

Definitely a possibility. Similar to anti-tampering stickers on electronics, I don't know if they'd look at hardware for tool marks or broken Loctite and say that it's been tampered with.

I compare this to a dealer installed TRD intake or lift kit. That doesn't mess with warranty at all. It is all OEM components. Kohler needs to consider doing the same.

Would an old carbureted car need adjustments if you swapped the stock air box for a huge donut filter?

I understand, I guess. They don't want to cover something if its original configuration is changed. However, I think they should consider this as an OEM dealer installed upgrade. It is OEM parts designed for this engine. It is a shame that we are locked into whatever model secondary OEMs want to install and it makes it difficult for us to obtain the upgraded versions such as this Kohler Pro filtration setup.

I don't know how warranties work in this situation. If I had an issue and need to file a warranty claim, I'd go to my dealer. Dealer says it needs a repair or replacement and Kohler sends parts or pays for repair? Or does dealer send it to Kohler and they determine what work is required? If option 1, I've called my dealer and asked about it and he said he wouldn't say anything, but if option 2, then that is a bit more risky.

The higher end part is more likely to prevent issues than cause them...

I'd understand if I just cobbled up some parts and slapped a bigger filter on...

It would be interesting to check it before/after with an exhaust gas analyzer.
