Never heard of this but now that you mention it, I’ve demounted some tires that had a white powder in them.

I know Honda and Mercedes use a balancing powder in the OEM tires for that “fine ride” characteristic they are known for, that’s what the little balls of powder are in those. I don’t know if other manufacturers use it or not, it was something I remember from my tire busting days.

If you got one, I bet it's pretty valuable.

Weren't they discontinued because they were deemed too dangerous?

they’re still sold to golf courses under Toro brand, probably stupid expensive though.

I do still have mine, it’s been hanging in my shed for the last 20 years, I guess I should make it live again, the smell of 24:1 2stroke mix is unique, and probably a violation of EPA standards by now....

Christian and I delivered a Honda mower back to the customer today... 2 day turn around, tune up, blade sharpen, oil change, 2 new rear wheels and a new pull cord... I quoted 140.00 and about 5 days.... had it finished in 2 and washed it up....he handed my son 155.00 and told us “I’ll find you more customers, this thing looks like new again”! :fistbump:

Had another phone call today (I need a receptionist) got a mower that runs and quits .... picked that up after dropping off the Honda. Toro awd with a briggs and a plastic carburetor . o_O I can tell you I like working on the Honda’s .... anyway got it home and the fuel tank is dirty. Pulled tank and carb. Cleaned and refueled... we’ll see how it runs tomorrow... kid will mow the front yard with it. At this rate we’re going, I won’t need a mower:rofl:

When we first started this gig we didn’t get into washing down the mower, just cleaned the under side when the blade/blades were off.... but after thinking about it, some customers would rather see a clean mower than hear about what you had to do to it... clean = job well done

A friend wanted to clean out an old lawn mower that had been sitting around for a few years (5 maybe more) He knows i fix things so he gifted it to me

After a tune up, fix some rust, Fix wiring for the clutch and clutch bracket, a good cleaning. it will find some extra life mowing my lawn for the next few years

its not worth the money. If i wasnt given it for free i wouldnt have taken it. After replacing the transmission in this im 1/2 way to a new mower. I do think i need to do some carb work on it also.

almost 1k hours is alot of wear and tear

Known as a Hoverpro now-a-days. We have a few around the shop. Don't seem to sell many. That I know of at least. [IMG]

If someones needing to mow some steep shit check out a Ventrac Tractor and mower. Can mow up to 30* for 30 minutes. then you gotta level the engine for a few minutes before you get back after it. You can get tons of attachments for them too. Mowers, chippers, snow blowers, hedgers.

ETA: I meant mow horizontally across 30* slopes. Not up and down.

Slope angle is hard to look at and judge. Before I actually measured mine I would have said 45degrees. It's more like 25-27 degrees. My Cub shaft drive GTs easily mow up it.

You would be surprised how well it does cut, blade is not flush with bottom of deck, it is recessed, cut height can be adjusted to a point, deep grass is a challenge to get it to float over though being it is dependent on the air cushion to keep it movable.

I have lived in my house 27 years -- and been fighting with the hill since the day I moved in. Makes the simplest tasks a P-I-A . If I ever buy another place you can bet it will be flat as a parking lot.

I guess I'm weird. I love being on top of the hill. Great view and nice breeze.

I don't mind living on the hill -- living with the hill is a p-i-a...
