My uncle just came by to pick up some parts we made and he said he bought the Craftsman mower with that engine in 1993

The Command is a nice engine, I have one on the New Holland. Surprisingly quiet, plenty of power and good on gas. Mine uses some oil -- it is 25 years old and I paid $100 for the tractor so I'm not complaining.

Edit: And spent another $450 so I could actually mow with it... Right on schedule for one of my projects. :anonymous:

My brother works at “Powerco” he’s the rental manager. Rents commercial grade case and Kubota tractors. He gets diesel pretty cheap compared to your standard diesel price…. I myself just help with service and grass cutting:thumbsup: and he supplies the beer as well… win win :D
2 Kubota 2230’s . Each run approximately 8 hours per tank. 5 gal tank… we run through about 20 gallons a week or so depending on grass growth and or whatever else we need to use them for… rototiller attachment, loader, snowblower, plow, lawn roller 5ft, some type of seeder attachment, and 60” decks… I maybe forgetting someo_O

Did the lawn service thing today. Ginger is standing in for the F-250 -- it runs fine just won't stop.
    KIMG1500.jpg

Ran this little Snapper shredder for about 2 hours today, built in about 1972.
Works good on brush and hedge clippings, branches up to about 3/4".

That pile to the right is about 6 feet across and a foot deep. It was a mountain of hedge and tree clippings.

Dang it. Just this evening I threw a bunch of leaves and branches into the edge of the woods to rot. Totally forgot I have a shredder until seeing your post.

Piles of that stuff take years to rot away and the piles become giant.

I find using the shredder and wood chipper so satisfying because they make the brush disappear -- a rare case of instant gratification that isn't unhealthy.

I got a large pile as well because a guy was supposed to give me a shredder.......going on over a year now. I did get a large amount of kerosene out of a tank a couple weeks ago so that may be my solution to large pile :bananadead:

I usually kept the pile in the middle of my back yard. However, its been an eyesore since 2015. Living in town I'm not supposed to be burning anyways...

You can kinda see it here:

Got some grass planted where it was now looks almost like a normal yard...

You can see the color difference, but hey it's better than a brush pile. Also it's finally growing in in the bare spots beside my driveway. Hard as Hell to get anything to take in those spots as the rain always washes the seed away...

With shipping cost these days it would probably be cheaper to buy a shredder.

I bought this not running for about $50 years ago. Replaced the breaker points with an electronic do-dad and off it went.

Runs great but a bear to restart when hot, wish for an electric starter - there is something about pulling the rope over and over that makes you :mad:.
