If ya'll don't know, most seals can be ordered by the metric numbers on the seal. I saved a ton of money ordering from oringsandmore over buying MTD parts. Seals that are $25 each were $3 ordered by size.

Below is an example. The numbers mean the seal fits 17mm shaft, 47mm bore, 8mm tall. You can convert inch measurements to metric and order them as metric as well. This seal was $3 vs "no longer available" from MTD.

    [/QUOTE]

THANK YOU! Knowledge like this helps us keep these oldies working!
Unfortunately it seems most of the sharp parts guys have retired, the new guys only know what the screen says...

Ordering a bunch of parts to make up for some much needed preventative maintenance. Oil and filter, fuel filters and Orings, and the hydraulic oil strainer. This is an old B6100D 4x4. Not sure what year, but it runs like a top!

this one is my dads. He actually got it for free from his old company when they upgraded. They used it to plow snow and spread salt around their building, so it got a little rusty. But I like the patina look on an old tractor and it’s main structure is in great shape with low hours.

Turns out it wasn’t my battery that went bad the other week. It’s my starter solenoid. Got to pull the loader off and the filter head. There is a bolt behind the filter head holding the starter I can’t get too.

Got it serviced and blades sharpened. Love my lift. Did all my greasing with it lifted. Much easier.

Much easier to do elevated that’s for sure! Thanks for the reminder, I need to check back and regrease and check sharpness on me blades. I used my FEL last time, made nice work of it. Went back in my archives and that was 2 seasons ago

I got to use our 289D to pull the neighbors Kenworth out of his yard, he got his tractor stuck, pulled it out with the KW and then as he was driving back to the driveway the front axle sunk like a rock. He got it jacked up and got 6x6’s under the steer axle and we pulled her right out.

Nice little Bota. I hate pulling heavy decks off so the GT above is my mower. Loader tractor has no deck to mess with.

Thanks, yeah that deck is not light and even though it's a driveover deck it's still a pain to mess with. Normally I don't pull the deck off, just use the FEL to lift it up to access, but the deck as a gearbox at the PTO shaft, and it's near impossible to change that gear oil with it on the tractor. If I was to do all over again, I'd probably get a zero turn for the mower and a larger TLB for messing around with, but such is life.

I'm hear ya man. I tried the "one tractor to do it all" and was not happy with having to do so much changing stuff around. Plus the worry of having something break when I needed to mow. Thus I have 3 tractors instead of 1. One mower, 1 loader, and one tug to pull my brush hog.I am doing it with GTs though. Someday I'll graduate to a 30HP CUT but not today.

There are pros and cons to each. Like you said, if one breaks you are screwed. I've always been an advocate of the saying "jack of all trades master of none", so having one machine will be decent at each, none will excel in it's own specialty area. The pro being only one actual engine to do maintenance on and less in maintenance costs such as tires, belts, oil, etc., along with savings on storage considerations.

The only way I'd really be satisfied would be to have an even bigger garage with more equipment LOL, can never have too many options.

New to me(2010 Craftsman YTS3000 w/ triple bank bagger, 21HP Briggs, 46" cut) last fall for the price of free.99. Was in rough shape when i got it. Deck was broken and literally held on by rope. Got a new deck, some hardware, 2 new front tires, belts, and blades and its good as new. Cut perfect and has been a work horse since i got it moving mulch, dirt and everything else. First pic is condition when i picked it up and second pic is current condition.
