Wife and i went kayaking this morning. I had torn my 3205 muffler and surround down and painted it yesterday. Assembled it after we got back.

The welder isn't hard to start from old/bad gas, I put Stabil in it everytime I fill it. From the day I bought it new I've had to choke it to get it to start, doesn't matter if I weld with it for an hour and shut it off, have to choke it to restart it then too. I may try and adjust the carb like Curt said and see if it helps

If it's not broke, don't fix it! Is choking really that much of a bother?

im guessing this is a fairly new machine? Just about all newer engines are set so lean, they must have the choke on to start. When ever I come across an engine that starts great, I assume someone backed off the jets.

Not really, never had any issues with it other than choking it and I don't use it that much so I may just leave it like it is.

I don't remember exactly when I bought this machine but it's one of the last Miller Bobcat's that was 8,500 watt generator with an open case, soon after I bought it they went to 10,000 watt generator and a closed case to keep up with Lincoln at the time.

It's got to be close to 20 years old.

Hello tractor folks. My 1st Tacoma is in transit to me, so I just joined the forum and was surprised to find a tractor thread.

Here's a picture of my Kioti CK2610HST doing its primary job of clearing snow from my 500' long driveway, which drops 1' in 5'. I love this little tractor that helps me year round with a multitude of tasks.

Looks great, yup I'm working with USDA for my work, took me almost 8 months before I got the nod/contract. Unbelievable slow process, I just started calling up the food chain until I got high enough, when I got to the State director, basically told him, it's amazing how fast money is giving out to someone who qualifies for food assistance, but yet farmers have to wait many months to year for much less money than someone would collect in food assistance credit during that time frame, I hit a nerve for that reason.
I told him I was going to invite the media and a public relations representative from a couple farmer associations over to highlight the failure in their organization...."Mr. Scott, let me call you back here in about 30 mins, I going to look into this.." Phone rings back in 15mins, ok your appoved, paper work and contract will be mailed overnight.
What a POS process they have, you have to stay on their a$s, like a duck on junebug.

Carb motors get shipped all over, its the manufacturers best guess, not all of us have the same altitude and climate/humidity, sometimes those small adjustments make a big difference.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Our wood splitter with a Briggs on it is the same way - on "restart" must have a choke after sitting for 5 min or more. The Generac power washer motor is the same. Good thing is, they still start first pull warm or cold.
Great thing is those two engines can sit for 4 months and will start on the first pull -if you choke it and then quickly "unchoke" Like I said ONE pull of the rope! Two of my 3 chain saws -not one pull but a few more after the first "burp" of ignition. The third, my new 261 CM (M-tronic version) is seeming like it will start even faster -I have not gotten used to its characteristics yet (too new). My Stihl blower and weed wacker are both 15+ years old and have different "procedures" depending on the season. Trickiest one of all is my newest the new Stihl BG55 low end blower. It has been somewhat quirky during this hot weather. All in all -I think it is a matter of knowing the characteristics of the specific tool you are using, and using the SAME procedure every time you use that item. Only "gotcha" is a possible variable with the seasonal differences, that can effect the engine's starting.
On my splitter -i used to be in a "sharing deal with my neighbor, and every time he went to use the thing he would have starting/running problems. this was when the thing was running perfect for me!? After 2-3 times of going and troubleshooting it, I figured out he was storing his gas cans in a sunny part of his back yard. He was also leaving the splitter set with a less than full tank in the sun. Guess what!--Condensation forming in the tanks. I would drain the carb bowl, put my gas in, and bingo -no problems. took me a couple times to figure it out.

I THINK I fixed my Gravely problem with the brake sticking.......I mentioned this several weeks ago.

Went to mow today and bam parking brake stuck right in the shop. OK ALL HALT. Engine off. Now I can isolate it it......and ping ping ding.............an e clip just fell off! Same E clip, but opposite side that was never installed or it fell off early on. So fish the pin back in the hole (PITA) the same thread length as the right and snap the E clip in the groove. SEEMS to work like a champ and lever is much more smooth.
