Got my rear chains cut today. They’ll be 1 1/2” apart. 63 pieces welded on as soon as I can find time.

That is one of the best cutting bushhogs I’ve ever used. No matter how thick whatever it is you’re cutting, it leaves a clean finish. I’ve cut stuff 8’ high with it and it did amazing. It could be my width to HP ratio though, 6’ with a 60 HP tractor hooked to it :D

Looks like a little bit of work but worth while for sure. Those chains can be a life saver - literally! I had a killer brush hog a few years ago made by Modern Manufacturing and that thing cut through anything, it was super heavy duty. Unfortunately it was stolen out of a barn that I was working at and I was never able to recover it. The cutter I replaced it with just isn't the same. It still mows through blackberries no problem but it isn't nearly as stout.

No air or valve cores in wheel/tire, have driven around the yard, out in the street turning circles both directions using diff lock (dragging inside tire) drove around the perimeter of the yard ( wet and sloppy) tried to dig a hole with loader, wheels and tires just spun.

If I was on a time line and had to get something done, and punctured a tire, the damn thing would be flopping off the wheel 1/4 mile from anywhere convenient to work on it.

And I’m no light weight 6’5” and not tiny.

they’ve only been there since 10/97 ish.....

Bead breaking is the worst part of tire work. Hate it.

I'm doing a little box blading today.

Finished the day brush hogging my lower field. I need to get down there with my brushcutter and take care of some trees. Swisher chopped down some 2" cedar and sumac but thise 3+" oaks are beyond it. Had to do a bunch of winding and weaving.

I got a call late Saturday afternoon that all the paperwork was in order(ish) and I could come down anytime....

2:30 AM Sunday morning....off to Oklahoma I went. I stayed at a buddy's place and got the chance to play with some of his new toys. More on that later.

The owner said two tires were flat spotted and would need to be changed. Well that was partially true. All five tires were smoked and looked a little octagon. Lucky I decided to bring along one spare and I purchased two wheel/tire combo's from the trailer dealership for 350.00. I installed the best octagon tire and headed back for a bumpy 664 miles Monday morning at 9:00 AM. I did 21.5 mpg on the way down doing the speed limit. On the way back...LOL! That's a heavy trailer. One wheel was balanced, two new, and my octagon. Pushed it pretty hard on the way back and did 12.2 mpg.

    LT.jpg

On Sunday after purchasing the trailer, we went up to my friends 70 acres that he is clearing for his future builds. You can see the JD tractor in the back...

That is a really nice tractor. 51.5 HP at 750' elevation sure does make things a lot better than 25 HP at 7550.

    JD.jpg

When I returned home, then the musical tires and wheels started. That's a whole other shit show story. Make sure the wheels on your trailer are rated for load. Never seen 4400 lb 16" wheels before. Even Load Trail said it was a custom order since 17.5" wheels are spec'd with 8K lb axles.

I expect it’ll be close, going to tire shop in the morning, I ain’t got time or energy to mess with this, to many other things to do.
After its mobile again full hydro fluid service and repack all 4 cyls on the loader. Clean and lube control valve
Clean then Cut out rust in mower deck and replace with actual metal.

then maybe I’ll be able to try and fab a grapple for the bucket.

and all the other maint and repair I haven’t been able to accomplish the last 3 years around the crib.

Yeah, some air pressure will pop that new one right out where it belongs. I get that call all the time at work.

"These tires you sold me are the wrong size! The numbers match, but the new ones are totally different!!"
"Do me a favor; before you send them back, put one on the rim and air it up. Leave the tag on just in case, and call me back when you're done"
    *30-45 minutes later*
    "Yeah, we're all set"

Most of the old timers have either died or retired, so nobody's used to how a bias ply tire will change shape under pressure anymore.
