Got it going yesterday. Put the carb back together and bolted it on, put the new (used, but good) gas tank on, put some fuel in it. Took the battery off trickle charge (it was dead), bolted it in and bumped the key. It came puttering to life.

First impressions- I wish it moved a bit quicker. Not zero-turn fast but maybe a bit less than half as fast would be nice. It’s quite slow. The hydraulics are pretty slow too. I’m going to change out the hydraulic oil with the proper stuff (SAE 30wt) and see if that helps. I’d imagine it should help the loader move a bit faster.

Otherwise, it runs very well. If I can’t speed it up I will probably not use it as much as originally anticipated. I’ve got 4.5 acres and it takes forever to get around. Maybe a bigger pump would help, not sure.

Main lift cylinder pin needs attention:

Also found this. Some may remember from my previous posts that there were cracks on behind the pivot point of the main lift. Was browsing the 'net and stumbled across this- apparently it's common as can be seen by the two plates welded on:

I'd check the filter & screen for they hydraulics, too, if it has them. When I bought my old Kubota it was sluggish as hell, because the HST screen was corked. A fresh screen, filter & fluid change and it was like a new tractor again.

Good call. Not sure why I didn't think about it- I just went through this with my MF35's loader hydraulics a few years ago. Thanks!

Welded a reinforcing plate across the top of my bucket along with a receiver for a hitch with a clevis and 2 hooks on each end for a chain. The clevis can be turned around out of the way. Last picture is after I caulked the seam so it won't get water in it and painted it blue.

What thickness plate did you go with? That is something I need to do to my bucket after I straighten the top edge.

I went with 3/4" thick X 3" wide. My bucket looked just like yours before I did this.

Judging by the tube frame of windsor's loader, 3/4" ANYTHING welded to the bucket will likely have more negative effects than positive. I can't tell how wide that is, looks about 4' or so, but with smaller machines or those with lower lift capacities it's good to be mindful about how much extra weight you're adding to the loader bucket, or anyplace past the pins.

Granted, it won't make THAT much of a difference, but I've had my machine maxed out to the point that I needed a few extra inches of lift and literally pushing up on the bucket got me there. Probably around @2500lbs or so is my guess. I'd put some steel on there that won't bend for the strength of the loader. six5creed's machine looks much larger than windsor's so that extra weight makes little difference for him.

Good point, mine is 60HP and the bucket is 6' :D He could probably get by with 1/2" X 2" and be good.

Hey now. Dont be putting my 65 year old 30hp tractor down. Shes a beast now that I put new DA cylinders on.

Not putting it down, just sayin'- I've got a 56 yr old 30hp tractor. I wouldn't use 3/4" on mine, I'd probably use 1/2" or so.
Posted this earlier in the thread. The LJ 500 I'm lifting is 2000 lbs.

I know. Just jokin around. Yeah, I was thinking 1/2" would be fine for what I need.

Something else to consider if you wanted to use 3/4" is to add chain slots. Makes adjusting chain lengths really easy.

Ive got a couple of weld on chain hooks. Mainly looking to straighten the top and add the hooks out towards the webs. I think 1/2" would be fine for my needs.

I had some people get shitty with me posting my GT stuff in a tractor thread once so Ya'll let me know it you don't want my content in here and I'll delete it.

Been cutting and burning brush and brushhogging my CR frontage all day with the Cub 3240 and Swisher tow brushhog. The Swisher is awesome on high field grass and briars/brambles, mows it like it's nothing.

It will chop up nearly anything you can pull it over but it slides off to the side sometimes when the stuff is too heavy when being pulled offset. I thought about cutting the back out of it and backing it over stuff with the straight hitch on it.

I have a JD garden tractor, but it is not this capable. That Cub looks pretty versatile.

Garden Tractor has 'tractor' right in the name, so I'm ok with it. :notsure:

I don't know if you know much about the 3000 series but they have shaft drive, cast iron rear diffs, auxillary hydraulic circuits with stackable spool valves, hydraulic power steering. Mine weighs 1400lbs ballasted out with the front loader and rear hydraulic hitch and box blade mounted.

Thank you sir! Some folks want to insist it's just a lawnmower cuz it doesn't have a rear PTO. Has a front and midmount but no rear.
