Damn, I have uncounted hours on mowers, never seen or heard of this happening. Glad it turned out all right for you.

Not really a mower or tractor, but my buddy’s trailer is used for transporting his 36hp zero turn. Blew the expanded steel mesh out of the tailgate. I had him buy some heavier mesh and two 10’ sticks of 1x3 tubing.

I added the second and fourth pieces of tubing from each outside. (four pieces total) The mesh is heavy duty. Added a good bit of weight to the gate, but the tires will ride over those three supports.

In hindsight, what I SHOULD have done, is have him buy 1/8" flat stock to make a "frame" out of, welded the mesh to THAT, then just 8 stitch welds to the trailer gate frame. That would make replacement much easier. However, I don't think he'll have an issue... the tires are fully supported now and with all the extra spot welds this mesh isn't going anywhere...

Mesh obviously blown out. It was also work hardened from his laborer constantly trying to hammer it back. Brittle...

Borrowed my friend's air chisel, this sucker made quick work of all the crappy, cold spot welds holding the original mesh on.

    Over 500 spot welds...

Nice. I would add flat stock over the mesh now, bridging the new rect tube. Total overkill, every 4" or so. No need to replace the mesh ever again. :D

And in keeping with the theme, I finally attached and used the only implement I hadn't touched so far.

swapped in a new battery last week, and cleaned out the fuel tank and replaced all the fuel lines today. Went to start it and the battery is already dead. Bad ground cable is my guess. Gonna suck to tear apart the drivers pedestal to get to the other end.

Is it a good idea to apply wool wax or fluid film to the bottom of your mower deck?

I though for sure it would be until I did it and now I am unsure.....it seems kind of liquid-y and now I am wondering if it will just have the grass clippings stick to it.... thoughts or has any one done it?

I have no idea honestly, but now you got me wondering about wd40. Works real well on a snowblower.

No fluid film. Paint it or use a no stick coating spray.

1953 Farmall Super C. Everything functions thankfully. Woods triple blade belly mower that rocks when the machine runs.

Have new negative/ground cable in and still won’t start even with known good battery. Pulling plugs and they look terrible so off to buy four D21 plugs tomorrow.E96150A6-A181-41DB-9F01-E2FC4A4E4A5E.jpg

It's running really rich, the needle is probably not sealing and you are dumping way to much fuel into the carb and then into the engine. It also sounds like you have a short or a drain going on or a very bad connection although that would not explain the dead battery. All a bad connection will do is not allow power to pass, it doesn't actually kill the battery and discharge it if sitting.

Dad had a super M that had all sorts of issues. Finally yanked the carb off it and rebuilt it and put in a good fuel filter. [you can't believe the crap that will come out of those old tanks] He ran that thing for several years after that without issues.

On the plus side, that will be the easiest carb you will ever rebuild in your entire life. It's just above putting a nail into a block of wood in technical ability to rebuild.
