Agreed. That case cover alone is $190. I haven't checked on the oil pump cover.

An entire new pump is just north of 5 bills.

Might as well get one of those coming.

    Le sigh.

Ugh… is this another “cheap” mower project headed to the road thing?

If I can get the sum biotch right.

I still got room to pocket a few bucks, but I'm running out of mowing season and I'll be sitting on it over the winter.

What'd you get for it? I have a 12x6 3000# Single Axle that I just put a lot of work into - new Dexter axle with electric brakes plus breakaway kit, new wiring, all new LED lights, new jack. I'm sometimes curious what I could get for it if I bought something bigger. I'd think the brakes would be a selling point given most trailers of that size don't have them.

The only real problem with my trailer is how stupidly heavy it is. I think it's around 1500 lbs.

Sheesh! 1500lb single axle…. Brother joe just sold his flat bed 6x10 double axle aluminum trailer for 1400 6 months ago which he paid 800 for 5 years ago…. Saying this…. I’m sure you could ask a decent price for it….

It started life as a Pequea 8012S. The new ones are listed as 1200 lbs, if I look at a 2012's spec sheet it says 1400. I don't know age of mine, but I'd bet it's 2012 or before. By the time I add in the brakes and breakaway battery, extra wiring, and toolbox I'm probably pushing 1500. I'll have to see if I can get a better idea next time I get rid of scrap metal.

All of the metal on it is 3/16 and with the 3500 lb axle I'd be confident I could load 2k on it, but then I'd be a bit over the 3k it's registered at.

Picked up this six foot mower for $350…brand new belt, cuts like a champ. It has the belt guards but I haven’t put them on yet. I couldn’t find a cutter for less than $650 for a five foot. I’ve never cut grass with one before. I just blasted through the yard in the pouring rain and didn’t skip a beat haha

You came out like a bandit on that. Congrats.

I built a 5/8" shank trailer ball to fit my sleeve hitches since I was using a different tractor to pull my Swisher brush hog today. Turned down the shank to 5/8" on the grinder then welded some 5/8" rod to the end of it.

I brush hogged ~3.5 acres today. Some 3-4ft high sumac but mostly 2-3ft field grasses.

Below is only part of it. There's a maze of fields below it and I have 1/4 mile of county road frontage I hit as well. I need to get down to the maze this winter with my brushcutter and take out 100 4" scrub oaks.

Nice find! Just don’t try and use it as a bush hog, the belt will go fast

If you knew what the tolerances were supposed to be, wonder if all that could be machined and salvaged?

Haha no doubt. I found a bush hog a while back for around $300. Needed new blades. Googled it and it is the first model Bush Hog made here in Selma, Alabama. Not sure of the year. Ridiculously heavy. Ended up fabricating a longer wheel arm so it has room to swivel when backing up. May have posted this before, bad memory. Haha

I just read some more about it. If it’s one from 1951, it cost $320 new. That means it has essentially depreciated at the rate of inflation. That’s not bad for a piece of hard use equipment.

I paid 600 bucks about 4 years ago, sold it for 1000. Covered about 1/4 of the price of the new one.

    Woooohooooooo!!

    Background on me:
I grew up basically a suburban city slicker and never had driven any type of farm or construction equipment until meeting my now wife's family, and have had several goes running her dad's old small Ford tractor, mostly just hauling an old firewood gathering trailer around their family acreage to load or unload.

So the wife and I have a small bit of zoned A1 acreage with the plans of making a modest homestead out of it as our family grows. We now have a 1.5yrs old daughter, who's first and last words everyday are 'outside'...and yeah she's obsessed with our new toy. 20210617_180430.jpg

We are a month shy of living here 3 years, and I mulled over what type piece of equipment would best fit our needs for nearly half of it, be it a smaller or compact tractor vs. either a wheeled or tracked compact loader. Our main needs revolve around moving dirt, logs/firewood, gravel, and other type material movement. The other main duty the machine will need to be setup for is maintaining our shared private gravel road (which historically has been neglected to the point our road looks and feels more like a live fire mortar range).
The other aspect is recurring and random friends and family projects and chores (i.e. my parents semiannual mulching, the in-laws gravel road and farm access road maintenance, tree/firewood logistics at both our parents).

We won't be prepping Agri or deer plots/fields, as most of our property is wooded. The back half of our woods does have a nice drop down towards a creek that is the property boundary.

The last aspect for our equipment involves transforming the natural and small shooting berm off and part of the back hill into a much larger and wider shooting berm, and of course thereafter maintaining it over the years.

So I bit the bullet and went with this little ASV RT-25, which is essentially a sit-in mini compact track loader, competes with the walk behind/stand on Dingo, Vermeer, Bobcats. With our sloped back acreage and my history of broken bones, concussions, etc. I valued the ROPS and seatbelt aspect over the even more narrow offerings.
    20210531_121410.jpg 20210528_085407.jpg

Of course it arrived (275mi south west of us) the week I had shoulder surgery...so the wife drove the family ram 1500 down and back with a rental 12' trailer, mind you she had never driven the ram let alone towed anything! She DID F*n FANTASTIC, despite idiots, camper trailers bursting into flames, etc.!!!!! 39226.jpg
We are enjoying the heck out of this little thing!
