Can anybody throw out any brands I should look at for claw grapples? I like the kubota grapples and the EA wicked grapple. But they both have extreme lead times

Loflin manufacturing makes some good ones. They are based here in N.C.

There’s plenty out there, I’ve already found 5 or 6 companies but most of the grapples are nearly 400lbs. That’s a little too much for my L2501

I weld nuts to broke off bolts now. Learned that one recently. Flat washer followed by a nut if flush. The heat helps loosen it. Wish I had known that trick for the 20 years I was a heavy eqpt mechanic.

    I fucked up.

Let the magic smoke out of the engine.

Got in a hurry and plugged the positive into the kill/ground port.

Looked at the fan intake and wisps of smoke were waiting up thru the vents.

It seems this fucking mower just wants to be on some sort of fire!

    New coils on the way.

I guess I just paid my stupidity tax.

Used my brush hog to finish mow 3 acres today. Mainly to run the Thermocure flush thru the 3205's radiator. It has cleaned the tubes very well in just about 3hrs of run time before today but has a bunch of minerals around the tubes. Hopefully it knocked some more crud loose but it's so murky I can't tell. Smells horrible.

If you’re referring to root grapple or one with a flat bottom, I vote root. The ones with flat bottoms gather too much dirt.

I stick with EA and endure the lead times. They simply make good quality, strong attachments that weigh far less than the competition.

As to type, root vs long tines, it depends on the type of work you do. Long times bottom works best for moving logs and large rocks. Short root grapples work best for clearing brush.

There’s multiple styles, there’s the root rake and a regular root grapple that has the “flat” bottom with 7-10” spacing between the bottom tines. I’m leaning towards a root rake with longer than normal bottom tines but I am slightly concerned about hydraulic pressures when you really get to picking and pulling with a grapple
