I'm on vacation and the wife had to go to a Dr's appt so I had a crack at this thing. I left it in the back of the truck for this. Changed out the tires for some I had on hand, made a fuel line with new filter and shut off valve, put the battery and air filter out of my 3240 in it, put some new RC12YC plugs in it. It will turn over good and fast and sounds good doing it, gets gas, but no spark-- checked with a wire in the plug wire end and touching the spark plug with it.

I pulled the white kill wire out of the harness--nope, cleaned all the wire connections--nope, found the green ground wire loose and got excited, tightened it up--nope. I had bits of the air filter foam pre-filter falling out of the blower housing while it turned over so I know it has a mouse house in there. I don't want to tear it apart at this time but know the engine needs to come out. For now the 3205 will get the gas tank out of it and I'll put the body on it. Deal with this one later when I'm ready to pull the engine.

It easily rolled slowly down my ramp with no danger whatsoever after putting the new tires on.

If ya'll know where to start looking on a Kohler CH22S for no spark I'm all ears. Otherwise I'll pull the engine and check all electrical for mouse damage then start following the service manual troubleshooting.

Oil level switch? Unplug that to check if it's grounding out.

What safeties does the Cub have?

    Foot switch safety? Neutral safety?

My Zero turn Toro units it's always a safety switch giving me fits

All of those are a no turn over. This spins like hell. I did unplug the oil pressure switch.

Disconnect the key harness then jumper the starter, see if you have spark then?

If not, I'm betting the vermin ate the coil wires. Did you remove the shroud yet to see what those bastards did to the wires?

Not yet. The shrouds are a PITA to remove in chassis so I'll pull the engine when I get ready to. just didn't want to pull it yet. I figured that's where I'd start. May end up converting this to eliminate the SAM ignition advance when I tear into it if the coils aren't chewed.

Thanks. If it doesn't have rodent damage a likely suspect is the SAM ignition advance module. Kohler discontinued it as being problematic and there is a kit to work around it. When I pull the engine I'll research it a bit more.

I washed the fender and sat it on it. I'd bet this thing got parked when it quit running and the PO didn't know about Kohler's ASAM problems. Either that or the hydro gerotor broke and mice ate the coil wires while it sat. Either way it's getting repaired. It's too nice a tractor to be parts. This cost someone $8500 when new with the 3pt and 60" deck.

    Hell, yes!

That Kohler Command alone would sell for $1.5k itself.

Make this unit come back to life!

Sadly, I haven't in years. I have 10 empty kegs waiting for when I can get back to it.

Brush hogged a couple acres with the 3205/Swisher combo today and mulched leaves with the XT3. It's beautiful here in NW AR with mid 50deg temps all day.

Thanks man. I keep everything inside and do a full wash after playing in the mud. Otherwise just an occasional spritz with water in a spray bottle and a wipe.
