Possibly an unpopular opinion here but I’d look at a super garden tractor with a blade on it for snow duty and/or a loader for light work too. JD455/x500/x700 series type of stuff. Jack of all but master of none

Coming home from church Sunday we went a different way, saw a guy I know who had some stuff sitting by the road for sale. One of the items is a 3 pt wood chipper, I text him and he said he wanted $75 for it, I ask if it works, he said last time I used it but it needs TLC. I went and looked at it, it's locked up, rusted, needs belts, etc. etc.

I didn't ask anything else about it and started to leave, he said I tell you what, I'll knock it down to $50 and if you haven't let me know anything by tomorrow at dark it's going in the scrap pile. I said ok.

I waited until dark last night and said I'll give you $30 for it to save it from scrap, he said I think it's worth $40.

I didn't respond and it was still sitting there this morning.

I'd like to have one, it's kinda small and I'm afraid my 60hp will tear it apart anyway.

I'd give $30 for it just to see if it works after some TLC but that's it.

Most people around here would rather let something rust/rot away before giving it to someone who will spend the time and money to get it going again.

I don't really need any more projects right now and I figure he'll only get $2 for it at scrap anyway :D

It was gone yesterday afternoon, I’m kinda glad. I’d like to have one but didn’t really want that particular one. I’ve got enough projects going on.

I put the $400 Mouse House 3225 back together today. Put new PTO belts on it before assembly. It has 2 belts that run the PTO, the PTO runs the deck's driveshaft. A vacuum actuator pulls a pulley into the PTO belts to make it run. Pretty neat setup. Everything on it works except the backup lights. I need to see what turns them on.

This is the first tractor I've had with a 3pt hitch. All my implements are sleeve hitch. I'll have to weld up an adapter.

Are you going to change the front hubs to that better version?

Got the Toro deck installed. Still need to order a couple anti-scalp rollers.

Took it for a test ride and am still hearing a weird, clutch noise sound. Kinda metal on metal, but every 1/2 second intervals.

Was outside running it and saw Sparks coming from the idler tension pulley.

Someone bolted the idler arm to the frame without the required spacer washer.

New spacer washer and this thing purrs!

After washer installed pics show the corrected position.PXL_20211212_203941559.jpg PXL_20211212_203916981.jpg

I wonder if the previous owner peddled this cheap because they couldn't find the source of the noise and just assumed it was the engine?

May have been. It amazes me the amount of neglect that goes into these. This is what happens when you can't easily take a machine into the dealer like you can with a car---we get em cheap!

    True, true.

I got no issue getting my hands dirty...especially when I'm gonna end up with a good profit!

I piddled around a little after the inlaws left. Got my back up lights working on the 3225. Lol on a GT with tail and back up lights. :D

Also put a few drive rivets in the footpads. The factory has sprues molded in on the bottom that dry up and break off after 20 years or so.

And in the critter files: this little(pretty big for a widow) devil was right below my garage to house step. I have had my bare foot right in front of her all summer I'm sure. I stuck it on a sticky trap then in a bag with an alcohol soaked paper towel so I could pin her. Yeah I'm weird like that.
