Wife sent a text to me at work Wed. "Tree fell on the fence"

    IMG_20211215_174654_compress35.jpg

On the drive home I was running thru all the crap I was going to have to do including starting my Poulan saw that hasn't been started in months. Ugh!

I got home and went back there. Lifted the tree and heaved it over, slid the toprail out and bent it straight in a tree fork. It was bent 90deg by the tree. Went and got some side cutters and wire, and had it fixed in 35mins total.

    20211215_174259_compress30.jpg

Today I grabbed the Poulan, pumped the primer 10x and it fired on the first pull with 10mth old gas in it, idled great and ran liked a striped ape. I did a Chinese tune up on it a couple years ago and set the H/L on it. I guess I got it right.

Forks on the 3240 and I have a burn pile to take care of again.

I wish I was that lucky!

There is a dead ash 30' into the vacant lot west of my shop. It's around 3' in diameter. My live maple is preventing it from landing on my shop. Got calls into 3 tree companies and no shows yet.

Wife and I check for change 10 times a day.

Sorry man, taking that down is gonna be expensive. Very dangerous situation with a leaner. Especially one that big

    That is no good.
So the vacant lot isn't your vacant lot I'm betting and the owner isn't going to kick in for the tree guys?

I had part of a (neighbors) giant Cherry tree fall on the garage once, punched several new skylights. It also pretty much destroyed the pretty crappy old roof. The new metal roof set me back about $3000, with me doing the work.

Fortunately there was an old masonry chimney that took the tree dead center and took the brunt of the force. It put a split in the chimney about 7 feet long.

It was actually two trees together and one leaned ominously over the garage (and my new roof), the neighbor was kind enough to let me have it taken down -- I paid naturally. :pout:

Any experience in here with Kioti tractors?

My dad just purchased a CK4010SE along with a tree puller, grapple, and 66" bucket.

He went to 5 dealers looking for a NH Boomer 40 and there wasn't anything available until 1/23! Kioti's are made by Daedong, which also at one time made the boomers and currently makes a bunch of stuff for bobcat, Massey, etc.

The Kioti seems to have quite a few standard features that are costly add-ons for other brands. More tractor for the same price.

I've got a subcompact from them. My experience has been great so far (only had it a year and a half or so). They seemed like the best bang for the money around here. Daedong is well known as a good manufacturer.

Tree is down! No damage to my shop. Lots of twigs to clean up, though.

$300 for the pro's to drop it.

That isn't a bad price! I was quoted $2200 for two 14" oaks that stand about 10' from the house and nothing else within fall radius. That is just to drop the trees and then grind the stumps. I told them I'd handle breaking it down. I said no...

Gravely/Spartan dealer an hour away had some take off seats.

Gave me a deal if I took all 3.

ZT does look better without a ratty assed seat.PXL_20211221_210307237.jpg PXL_20211221_213901332.jpg

Those are nice. My land is so bumpy I can't use armrests. They just beat the crap out of me.

I find them useless as well.
It just seems costumers want them.
I'm all about making the sale.

They can flip them up and out if the way or remove them later.

Gonna need a thread title change here!

Retired neighbor lady has been letting me cut her grass and vacuum up leaves.

I needed a place to test these project mowers before I slap them up for sale. Basically I beat the shit out of them to try to find the weak links. My yard is already cut and vacuumed. I asked if I could continue the beat down on my mowers on her yard. Of course she said yes.

She is very happy she doesn't have to cut grass as much as usual.

She brought me over a pumpkin pie this morning. I love pumpkin pie.PXL_20211222_231638743.jpg

So, I bring pie to the thread.

    Pie thread!

I had one from yesterday that didn't quite fit but I thought was amazing--and there is a tractor in the pic. I replaced my master bath toilet which is upstairs. I dropped the old tank 30ft out the bathroom window of the house on rocky dirt. It bounced 20ft from the impact point and didn't break. Dropped the bowl and lid 20ft out the front bigger window and it didn't break.

Laughing at the instructions with the new toilet. "Tighten bolts very carefully. Vitrious China is extremely fragile"
