They're not for everyone, but my old Ferris is the fastest way I've ever cut the lawn. I've tried a finish mower behind my MF, flail mower (nice cut, still slow even at 6' wide) conventional lawn mower (SUCKED), garden tractor (Economy Power King), still sucked. The suspension on the zero turn helps a lot, my yard is bumpy.

Some adjustments to the machine you ride will make a big difference.

Anyhow, I picked up these cast wheel weights yesterday for just $100. I'm going to make an adapter ring to mount them to my existing weights. They've gotta be in the realm of 200lbs each:

All the rain we’ve had recently the goats stayed in and ate all the hay.

Got a round bale from a friend who baled some a couple weeks ago.

I made this bale trailer for the baler my dad had, it made 4’ x 5’ rolls. He sold it and got out of the hay business. My friends baler makes 5’ x5’ or 6’ x 5’ rolls and is a little tight.

Wonder what they came off of? I’ve never seen any that looked like that. Any markings other than what we can see?

They came off a big Massey ag tractor, I haven’t seen any like them either. The only markings on them are: ROWE CO MARTINSVILLE ILLINOIS.

Nothing else. I did some research, Rowe Foundry is still in business which is neat.

Here’s the only pic I have of one mounted on the original machine they’re off, from the seller’s ad:

    Question for you gurus:
I need to clear about 15 shooting lanes at my lease. They’ll be about 40’ wide and ~200yds long. The terrain is dirt, sand and a combo of that mixed with some mud and some hills thrown into the mix. What I’m clearing is 6’ tall weeds and undergrowth that consists of pine tree saplings (1-2” in diameter), vines and just junk vegetation. I’m going to rent some equipment to do this but am unsure exactly what I should rent. I know a dozer would make short work of it but that’s $2K/week and would be overkill for what I need. I was thinking a skid steer with either some sort of front hydraulic attachment or with a brush hog pull behind attachment.
    What would y’all use?

You could rent a skidsteer with a forestry mulcher on it, they would make quick work of it. Have no idea how much one is if you run it yourself or if you hired it out.

One of my favorite things to do on tacomaworld is to look at the products in the Amazon ads at the bottom of each thread. They are usually related to the thread. This one didn't disapoint.

So, the pinion gear was toast. Finally made it to the dealership for some prices, and the intention of ordering stuff. Until I was told a new pinion gear is 683, plus some bearings and a new seal is very near $800.

I talked the tractor in with the purchase of our house, and I don’t think it was taken care of previously. I cleaned the hydraulic filter while doing all of this, and found LOTS of chunks. So I may change my mind and buy the part, but until then I’ve got a 2wd tractor, and I’m on the lookout for something else.

Get sum! Amazing what swinging (2) 30lb axes at 150mph will chop down.

Did a lot of tractor work this weekend. Loaded up a few trailers with logs, did some fence line work, built more on the chicken coop.

Then the woman wanted to start the front rock garden with a water feature.

115 hours on the machine now. I haven’t even started mowing yet

They get pretty close to the property. I do put ammonia on the fence posts, and the German Shepherd keeps them out for the most part.

I’ve seen them at the wood pile...
