I had one on my last zero turn, wasn't a fan. It blew the crankcase gasket while getting leaves up. Luckily I noticed all the oil before internal damage occurred. It must have been a problem with that particular engine cause when I got a new gasket it came with new bolts.

Like I said, the older I/C motors and Vanguards are better IMO. Vanguards are flat better, period.
I like my 13.5 intek single, but if it blows, I probably will go a different repower route.

As far as I know, nothing.

Seller started it just before I winched it on the trailer. No smoke noted on a cold start . It sounded great thru all rpm ranges.

I have an Exmark walk behind unit that needs an engine. My intention is to use this one on the walk behind. It originally had an FH 580. I'm not wasting time finding out why the Kawasaki keeps dislodging push rods.

It's an older unit, so a person has to limit themselves to how much money is worth it to invest in it...as most on this thread know.

I will have to McGyver the wire harness, but that shouldn't be a big puzzle.

Kohler Engine oil, I can't believe what it did to my engine!!!

You won't believe what Rusty found when he pulled the valve cover!!!

    KIMG2219.jpg

    KIMG2231.jpg

Did some work on the CC ZT today. This is a 2006 with 518 hours, Kohler Courage 17hp single. It has had Kohler 10W-30 oil and WIX filters changed every 50 hours.

The photos above are exactly as found, I hadn't wiped anything off. The valve cover has 2 pieces that pop together -- used for crankcase ventilation, in photo 4 you can see the plastic fabric filter and the one way valve.

The ignition switch worked fine but I was afraid the key was going to fall out -- took 60 seconds to change with only a putty knife to pop it out of the fender.

It uses very little oil but I have been noticing some oily dirt build up under the valve cover area. While I was there I adjusted the valves for the very first time ever. The intake was just slightly tight, the exhaust just slightly loose, rounded the job out with a new plug and valve cover gasket.

Here's hoping for another 500 hours. :fingerscrossed:

Called Kubota yesterday to check up on the progress of my Orange, he said they started putting in the backup camera. Radio is scheduled to be installed on Monday.

The stuff works but dogs do like it. I got four inch diameter PVC pipe and a "T". I cut the pipe to three section each about four feet in length and pieced it together. With two chains staked to hold it on the ground, I could lift the center pipe and drop the chunk bait into the center part of the "T". It was large enough for the rodents to get into the dark. It was also large, heavy and awkward enough that the dogs didn't seem to notice. Two black labs gave it some sniffs and left it alone.

Standard radio with bluetooth, what ever Kubota uses, and its the quote 'free radio'... that were going to throw into this 70k skidsteer. Machines I rented and used last year with radios, I still wore ear plugs, because of hydraulic whins and other what sound knots.

I like tire bonnets. I prefer the ones with 3 hooks rather than 2, especially for cars. The angle change in the 3 hook is less likely to cause damage to body panels and less likely to have a body panels cut through the strap.

You can buy and add the idler hooks if you already have bonnets or tire straps.
On my next car/tractor trailer (looking at a 10k full tilt 7x18), it will get setup with either bolt/weld on D rings or two rows of E track on each side to use tire bonnets on my '40.
