Been wanting to cut the ends out of a blown Kohler muffler for some time now. This is what I found so far.

    Tail pipe end:d6Hz5nkDYmbEINWYmh-3aLleWBFoC3eII1GJdpRA_40bf40e85148b41c39e00b6c5e8fe5d5a6d3e934.jpg

    Blank end:

As near as I can tell, there is or are short sections of perforated pipe that disintegrate on both ends.

I haven't decided if I want to fab up some of this or not. The outside can is pretty well rusted thu.

On a side note, the motor actually sounds quieter with no muffler attached. Still sounds bad, just not as loud.

Installed some spindle bearing housings today.

Blows my mind that I can have 3 housings/bearing assemblies+nuts and bolts delivered for $45, yet the only way to get bearings alone is to buy them from Toro/Exmark direct. The bearings alone are $36/6.

I guess I'm just gonna buy assemblies.

On the plus side, it's always to top bearing that fails. The bottom ones are always fine. I'll keep the bottom bearings and use them to put together a spare housing assembly .

Isn't that what the spring over the threaded rod is for? It is bolted to the linkage that has a chain going down to the deck?

    I get you now.

That spring is there to assist in lifting the deck to the height you want. Once positioned, a pin is inserted in the holes so the dack can't lower past your pin. There is a spring on both sides.

The pin is in the drink holder.

It's kind of a dumb design, but I see the point. Many different size tires are used on these rigs, so you need to have room to properly adjust the deck.

They been using this style for a while.

I guess it just seemed like there wasn't any more room for spring compression.

    You are correct.

But the deck was already at a setting lower than it could ever be if the tires where on the ground.

With the mower on the hoist, it allows the deck to go much lower.

These pro machines are designed to cut the grass longer than most would on their own yards.

The pro cutters want to come back every week to keep a paycheck coming. Consumer peeps want to cut low so they can go extra longer between cuts.

With that said, these things are so much fun and so fast, you are gonna want to cut as often as you can.

I can't emagine ever using a rider tractor to cut grass again.

I use a tractor at home and at one downtown property just to save bringing the ZT to the job, both were used and cheap. I have been using a ZT for 16 years and would never buy a new tractor to mow with.

Finally got around to wiring my lights for leaf getting up after dark. Had four so I put two on the back on a separate switch so when I backup to dump I can see there too.
