    But why?

I asked a few weeks ago about what happened to th OP... he's not posted in TW since Feb 17th. Someone here must know?

This thread is filled with mostly interesting and useful information. That "shop time" thread and many others like it often seem to be filled with posts of people telling each other "mornin' everyone", "mornin' critter", "mornin' so and so", etc.

The OP has quit the site. Most likely personal reasons. No biggie. Life gets busy.

I like your posts, and I don't even have a tractor!

I like reading what folks have to say - maybe I even glean a little knowledge once in a while.

But - you may want to reword your response. You said you won't make any mistakes in the future. Really? :p

I enjoy your posts and learn a bit each time you do. But I also subscribe to the Shop thread so I figured if you posted the stuff there instead of here I would see it still. But I think you are one of the main reasons this thread stays active. Your posts generate a lot of responses and interest. Keep up the good work!:bowdown:

So in my seemingly never-ending quest to solve my uneven mowing on my Cub Cadet with only 44 hours on it I did find the right hand spindle bearing felt a little stiff. Since Cub wants $115 just for one, I went on the jungle website and bought a pair strait off the boat from China for $70.

Took the deck off, belt covers, and blew all the debris out.

Got my cheap sawhorses out and hoisted the assembly up where I could work on it better. Good bit of crap to scrape off. I did not go all out as it's just gonna get messy again.

Because I'm lazy and like to live a little bit dangerous I removed the bolts in the spindles with a 1/2" 10mm socket on my air impact...

Assembled and ready to go back on the mower. Also sharpened and put on the high lift blades.

Went out for two test swipes and same damn thing! :annoyed:

Started going around with a tape measure and found the anomaly. This is complete dumbassery on my part for not seeing it beforehand, but this is what I found...

Yea, level adjustment came loose and the nut has been working its way down since I have a very bumpy back yard. Drove around a little bit and it seems the rod keeps getting stuck, so I'll have to investigate further. I saved the old spindles and will just clean them up, open the bearings up, repack, drill and tap a grease fitting, and re-assemble.

The good thing about THIS thread is that it's almost all meat and no fat. The mornin' mornin' morrnin' folks seem to have left this one alone... knock on wood. Many of those other threads require a "morning filter" so you can get to the good stuff.

    Good afternoon y'all. . . :anonymous:

I hope he will decide to come back when things slow down for him. I took a three-month break in '21, sometime people need it.

Very good decision. This is also one of my favorite threads.

I got the donor motor installed, bolted down and all connections made.

Brand new battery...and it's junk right from the store this afternoon.

It did have enough juice to show me the hours on the unit.

I'm hoping to get it started after supper.

So I Am FORCED to do this now, it was a project I’ve been needing to do, but now rust has forced the issue.
Belly mower on my B2400 has had the cancer for awhile, I knew it, and had bought a deck from a different tractor cheap ($400) it will not physically fit, but some parts will cross over so it’s not a waste and I could recoup some $$$ if I advertised the parts I don’t need.
Yesterday, I tried to mow and kept hearing a noise, sounded like belt slapping, no big deal, I have new spare, but I was SO wrong. Looked behind where I had mowed the center was scalped… pulled belt cover off to see what was up, and got to see the gear box pretty much gyrating and drive shaft from mid PTO slapping the deck support… gear box mount has rusted thru the deck. I have not pulled deck from under yet, trying to figure out other mowing means at this time.

Current thought, in blue, accurately measure both this and the deck on the machine, cut out good metal from this deck and mount it to the other. Patch up any other holes in the process. Gear box case PNs are same, gearing inside is a little different. So mounting either shouldn’t be an issue. Just getting things lined up and accurate is the trick.
TIME and weather are my issues, I don’t have an inside place to work, ez-up for shade, and a welding table to work on.
Working around my work schedule and wife’s medical issues have been limiting factors the last 2+ years (I’ve had this parts deck since mid 2020)
My current mower deck is Kubota RC60-24B this parts deck is RC72-27B ( I was told when I went to got look at it that it was a 60” deck, the FBMP ad stated this as well, guy didn’t know what he had….hence why I was able to buy so cheap…..)
I’ll take pix and update as I’m plodding along, it may take longer than I’d like.
Im seriously considering a 3pt finish mower to take up the mowing duties until I can get this worked out…
    Comments or ideas are welcome.

as a kubota fan... couple of questions for you.

so the deck you bought is a 72" deck & came off a 27hp tractor if im reading the numbers right.... why dont you use it on your b2400?

If ya gotta make mounts? thats way better than having to cut up a good deck & then reweld it.

guessing you dont want the 72" because of scalping issues on uneven ground?

now as you mentioned: a 3 point mower is pretty cheap to pick up where i live. usually find a decent one for $500 or so in a woods or TD. ran one of these for a long time, they have some good points vs a deck under. especially if you use your tractor for other things.

It’s too deep, the space between front and rear wheels is not enough to allow the deck to even rise, let alone setting the tractor over it, the 60” deck fills the space pretty well as it is.
Fitting the larger deck was a thought when I bought it, but once I got it home and looked it over. It just wouldn’t work.
I tried to sell the complete deck, nobody was interested with out the mounting hardware which I did not get.

Yeah, I guess I'll just assume Shane's position as the thread anchor.

    I'm sure he won't mind.

I like posting my random projects and this thread really fits the bill.
