I gots a serious WFT situation goin on here.

I have no Idea how this thing was running for the few years. For some reason the hack that changed the HG's last didn't try to align the dowels for fuck all!

Secondly, there is no way for the oil to drain back to the sump. It appears that the drain hole was never drilled on the left side of the head. I'm wondering if someone got the left and right mixed up?

You can see the drain in the block is on the left, but the drain in the head is on the right. On the bottom of the head its drilled most of the way up, but stops.

Should I attempt to hand drill that 1/4" in need to mate up the 2 sides?

What's the other head look like? I'd take the valve cover off and look before I started drilling anything.

I need about 5 loads to widen my turn-around area and resurface the driveway so I'm hoping it's still close to what I paid in '19. The Quarry is less than 10 miles from me so the fuel cost isn't huge. Hopefully, I'll have the extra cash for what I want to do later this summer.

You think it's possible someone replaced that head at some point and got the wrong one?

How many tons is that? Aroung here we go by the ton, I usually get anywhere from 15 to 19 tons for fill in pot holes 1/2 wash stone that way it can move around and fill in nice. By my estimate around here it's about $30.00 a ton now.

I sure this is not an original head. I need to check to see if vertical shaft Command engines are set up with only one or non holes drilled. Seems if its the same engine, just tipped, the oil would return down the pushrod galley just as easily. The hole would be pointless.

@RustyGreen, feel like doing some research? I would, but I need to finish putting this back together. Just taking a break so the lifters can bleed down.

No worries. I just now finished up buttoning up the motor and getting it bolted down. Test ran just fine and no oil overflow leak out of the valve cover!

Think I'm gonna treat myself to a steak tonight. It was kind of a long day.

If a yard weighs 2200lbs that would be a little over 6 tons. They sell 3/4” by the scoop which according to them is about 1 1/4 yards for $78

Does that include delivery charge A.K.A. haul fee? I live 18 miles from granite quarry so that might be to differance. Call around to Quarries I think in your area it might be Hendricks.

It’s Henson’s mulch and more, they are 4.4 miles away. I am going to call around but I think they are going to be the cheapest. $482 delivered for 5 scoops(6 1/4yds)

Ooh, yeah! 26 HP Kohler 7000 series with fan cooled ZT-2200 hydro pumps! That thing is gonna cut your mowing time down dramatically!

It’s actually a 2021 model with a Kawasaki 23 HP. They still had a few in stock so I took the savings. But yeah, should get the job done.

    This is Bull Shit!

A $9k mower has bushing bearings in the front wheel assemblies.

I is missing and the other 3 are worn out. 290 hours and they are done for. Your $49.99 wheel barrel has better flanged bearings!

Gonna hunt up some proper flanged bearings tomorrow.PXL_20230429_002124604.jpg

Things to know about zeros & speed....

Your yard dictates the mowing speed or you look like the guy in the meme above. A zero gains lots of time saving by the xero turn.

Yeah they are faster, but average mowing speed is still 10mph or less... Then ur good sits u burn it up.

Now I ran a 72" deck for 10years on tht 1st Hustler... Went down to a 60" deck & saved half an hour mowing the same yard.

It went faster with better maneuvering & handling, less scalping & you can contour your passes to the uneven ground.

Just saying= if you don't hv a smooth yard? A 72" is not the best choice.

Couldn't find any flagged ball bearings in my town, but did find the original style. In they go.

I found my axle bushing rods were pretty significantly worn.

Instead of buying entirety new rods, I just cut them in half and put the worn ends to the middle.
